Anyone have full vid of McEwen's tussle with fan?
A fan grabbed Robbie's water bottle (I believe) during a race or something and Robbie grabbed the guy by the shirt. I've only seen partial clips - does anyone have the full thing on video?

it's not the first time he's turned on an over-eager fan. 2003 or 2002 TdF (?) he had a go at some nut who tried to rip the carbon water bottle off his bike after the stage.

praps. brain ... not.... what it used to be. argh. gurgle....
actually, i meant to type 'cage' after 'bottle'. he said later he did not really mind losing the bottle, especially after he had thrown away five of them earlier, he was worried that the guy was going to rip the cage out of the frame, and breaking the frame in the process. and man, that stuff's expensive. besides, its the PRINCIPLE of the thing.
neurocycler: nice astrocyte confocal, BTW

I can't believe people don't understand this......McEwen didn't care about the bottle or the frame(since they are sponsored) it's all about what was INSIDE the bottle that bothered him.

After closely watching that video, I realized that he roughed up the wrong guy. The guy stealing the bottle is clearly wearing a light green raincoat, and the guy he grabs is in all black.
I'm sure he deerved it anyway.

i have the tdf footage somewhere ... if i remember right, and you could see just a bit from this vid, part of the issue was that the fan almost made him crash.

It's after the TTT in 2004, at least it's on my DVD that I bought of the 2004 Tour.
He just lost the yellow jersey (hence he has yellow shorts on).
the first kid tried to grab it, failed.
second kid grabbed it, got it, breaking the cage and the frame in the process.
McEwen gave the bottle to a kid standing by (which I think was a class move because he's concerned with the principle of the bottle-getting, not the bottle itself - and thieves stealing from him don't seem to impress him).
Only after he gave the bottle away and started to leave did he notice the frame/cage damage. He went back to the kid he grabbed and yelled at him.
On the clip you can hear him say something like "who's going to pay for this? this is a something thousand dollar frame" or something to that effect.
The kid's dad leans over and says something to him too but don't know what it is. Either "next time get the damn bottle" or "ignore him, he has 50 TT bikes in the team truck". Whatever, to me it seems apparent where the kid got the idea it's okay to steal someone's stuff.
You know who pays for that damaged frame? Whoever buys frames from his sponsor. You and me. Well, not me, I pay for TMobile's damaged frames though. And HealthNet I guess.
and on that other side thread, EPO would help a sprinter a LOT - if you're a sprinter and can get over the climbs and can ride with the group to the finish, you'll destroy people in the sprint. EPO would help you get to the finish. It doesn't help the sprint per se - it allows the sprinter to get to the sprint and to have reserves available when he actually does sprint.
one who knows how hard it is to get to the line with everyone,
