Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sometimes getting lost can lead to the best rides!

Great day for a ride today in New England. Decided to head out this morning for a 30 mile ride. I started out on a route I've done several times, but for some reason I decided to take a road I've never been on before and had no clue where it went. It was a great choice. Went through some very scenic areas I didn't even realize was around me. Not sure how, but I ended up in Rhode Island for a while. Didn't even think I was heading in that direction. Overall I ended up with 35 miles and felt pretty good afterwards. Nothing great with an average around 15 mph, but still a good start to the riding season.

How was everyone's ride today? Anybody get lost on purpose?

The other day we went down a road that we've never gone and ran into some good hills (we were doing hill intervals).

I almost met two nice dogs that day. The first one started leading us on, then come back, run beside us, then lead on again.
The second dog just ran alongside us and at a safe distance.

When I am lost is when I do my best exploring.. I never fear getting lost, unless night is near..

i got lost and i was hurting. that is not a good combination. you don't notice the scenic stuff when you just want to find your way home to stop the pain.
