My fleet has only a couple of badges.

Horrible photo when viewed here, I am getting a real camera soon as I haven't been able to find my other one and have been using the phone which speaks for itself regarding quality and resolution. I have a few odd Netherland badges from a few decades ago that I'll get on this thread after I get a camera.

I love those old badges but I guess a decal logo is the same thing these days.

I wonder if it's the expense of producing the badge or the negligible weight that prevents more companies from making them?

This one is over 4" long, maybe weight could be an issue in some cases. I don't know year or country of origin. I have a late '90s Fondriest and a 2011 Gios "Compact Pro"; both still using actual badges on higher end frames. I always liked the Chesinis with their logo etched into the head tube; no doubt as to maker and also some models ("Gran Premio"). Considering what better companies are charging for their products, I don't think cost would be an issue; a nice badge might actually help sell a couple more frames and cover the overhead required to make and install a badge vice a decal. If I was a maker/seller, of frames/components, I would personally provide the badge/decal/engraving as an option on any model as long as it didn't negatively compromise durability and/or performance. Nothing different than getting a custom paint job. I would pay extra to have a real badges as opposed to a decal, and that includes all decals throughout the entire frame. Put badges on all the tubes!

Some interesting head badges there. Is this the same Windsor that would end up in Mexico? What is their history? The badge has the Irish harp so I'm guessing this is pre-1921 (not sure what's in the top right -- should be a unicorn?).

Gentil et Cie was an entity which gobbled up a number of independent marques during the early decades of the last century
