Shimano 105 Pedals vs. Ultegra

I already have the Shimano 105 PD-R7000. I swapped them to my new to me used '93 Specialized Allez Comp. Now I need a new set of pedals for my Trek Emonda. Is there much difference between the 105 pedals and the Ultegra PD-R8000, aside from weight? I am wondering if I should upgrade or stay with the 105 pedals? I am wondering if the Ultegra offer little advantage for a not insignificant price difference.

You get to brag that you have Ultegra pedals.

If you don't know why you need one over the other, then it probably doesn't matter.

Maybe I just need to "pump".

Ultegra is probably lighter, more expensive and maybe better bearings so last longer and maybe look better to you, whether meaningful only you can decide.

I have a set of Ultegra pedals and have over 40,000 miles on them. They still spin smooth and I've never serviced them. I cannot comment on the longevity of the 105s.

Have had three sets of Shimano SPD-L pedals on my Emonda in this order. RS***, 6800 & 8000.

For me the RS*** had perceptible flex, nothing objectionable though. The 8000 is a tiny bit thinner than the 6800, enough my knees asked to lower the saddle a touch, but otherwise the same.

Performance Bicycle is selling the Ultegra for $199.99 and the 105s are $149.99. I don't know if they are the best prices. They are what I found quickly and should show the price differential.

if you got the cash and ok to spend it I say for $50 go big! I assumed the price difference would be a bigger spread. Why not treat yourself to some bling!
