Schwinn World Voyageur

I have been looking for one of these since seeing a few posted here.
I removed (saved) the pie plate and changed out the freewheel to a six speed. New peddles, saddle, cables, 1 1/4 Pasela TG's, and tape...otherwise pretty stock. Lovin' it.

Orange lust satisfied for now...although I did see a Bob Jackson recently that made a very strong impression. This is such a smooth ride.

Very nice World Voyageur. I have a '73 frame and fork that I must soon let go of to 'thin the herd', unfortunately.

I was wondering about the rear rack that attaches to the seat post bolt. I've never seen that sort of attachment. That's better than bolting it to the chainstays and messing up the paint.

Nice. Yes I think you are right, they originally had center-pulls. I am missing mine.

Thanks. Trying to learn photography and bikes at the same time.

Great rack. Double rat trap (hinged clamps from front and back) pannier friendly. Lines remind me of the Brooklyn Bridge for some reason. Got a little rattle I am trying to root out...

Perhaps since they are early Dura Ace to go with the group they were a specked "upgrade" ? Installing Jagwire X pads next.

I don't believe the Dura Ace side pulls were available in '73. Someone made the upgrade a few years later, I reckon.

Thanks for the info. Does your 650B World Voyageur still get time in your rotation?

I decided to build up an original wheelset for it. I have the Shimano "333" high flange hubs, Araya rims and bought swaged spokes. The rear rim buckled on my when finishing it and I just threw my hands up in disgust. I don't know what I was thinking building up a new wheelset with non-eyeleted rims with no hook. I'll unlace the front one and build a wheelset with 700c CR-18s or VO Raids and use Grand Bois Cypres tires.
