Got it: Gate. Looking for Landfill

Gate at Harris County Fairgrounds.

I’d like to return to the vital services theme ..

Next Mission: A landfill. (The entrance sign will suffice.)

The Getliņi waste disposal polygon where all of the waste produced by the 650 K inhabitants of Rīga ends up. This is the older end of the site, covered with soil quite a time ago, so it almost looks like a regular hill. However, I don't think any open waste can be seen from any of the access points (of which there aren't many). Furthermore, there is a sign that prohibits taking pictures at the main entrance, so I chose another spot. The "active" area is behind the hill, more to the right, where the light is visible, if you can make that out.

I like it. I hope they are still picking up garbage for you; they are for me so far.

I also like how you were able to include the prior mission in this pic.

Next mission?

Next mission: a bike sculpture. It can be a bike-shaped art object, or it can be a sculpture made of bike(s) or parts thereof.

Good mission ! this isn't an entry because my bike's not in it and it's photos I had on file from a April '19 road trip, but I think you guys will appreciate it. The seat is an old time tractor or lawn mower metal seat It's really tall so the handlebars and other bike looking parts had to be welded out of other parts, probably farm equipment. You can tell from the rust it's been there a while.

Nice picture, the wheels are made from an old dump rake..
For perspective, the wheels are 4.5 to 5 ft tall....?

Exactly, we used one up until about forty years ago on a small acreage.. The tines drag on the ground picking up the mowed, dried hay. There's a trip lever behind the seat, then a cog dropped on the hub of the axle and lifted the tines allowing the hay to be dumped in a short pile.
We used one behind a tractor and a few times behind a pickup truck. While someone sat in the back on a lawn chair, usually with a beer in hand...... Lol

That looks just like the bike rack at a nearby soccer field. I can hardly imagine a worse rack. Very impractical, hardly anything to actually get a lock around. But nobody rides their bike to that field anyway. Surrounded by huge parking lots so soccer parents can maneuver their mommy vans more conveniently.

Deal4Fuji, you've got 4 likes on this. For all we know, Subgrade's internet may be shut down and he's unable to respond.

Best I could do (this is not an entry) is very similar.

I had to use the old "hold the fish in front to make it look bigger" trick.

With four likes I'd say you're clear to assign a new mission.

1st I've heard that, thanks ! Hopefully subgrade is not sick !

New Mission, your bike with some form of Heavy Metal - in this case steel girders. It should be a least a ton or two. I can think of one example that's in every town and city

Next: let’s go macabre. The grave (actual grave) of someone infamous. Local infamy is fine but tell their story.

Cool bike. What wheelset size and tires do you have on there? And what frame / bike model is that? I'm assuming they're 700c's but I'm no expert.

Great mission pics guys!!!! I liked the brewery ones. I could've done that one but you guys beat me to it. There is one near where I do my grocery shopping and could've taken a little ride. But I don't think I wanna put my bike unlocked on my car while I'm in the store.

Thank you! It's an early MTB. 1985 Fat Chance Competition, or Kicker. One of the only MTB frame builders on the east coast in the '80's. The exact model has been debated and it could be either as the company fulfilled many unique orders. 26" wheels, Maillard hubs laced to Araya RM-20's (not original) with some unmarked 2" knobbies from the 80's/90's that are still surprisingly supple. 20" frame.

If you ever see a bike with an under-the-chainstay u-brake like that, safe bet its '85-'88, they did not last long.
