Hi all from Maine

Just got signed up. Nice site so far. 32, ride for fun and transportation. Allthough lots of people seem to look at me funny when I pull into work on a bike. Later all.

WELCOME ABOARD.

Im an ex maniac, I was stationed brunswick but stayed in Maine after I left the Navy.

I lived in In turner for a bit then Lewiston and finally bought a house in mechanic falls.

I hadnt been in main in many years but went back last august with my fathers relatives at york.

I decided to drive up to my old stomping grounds lisbon lewiston auburn turner and mech falls..

not much has changed in much of the state but Lewiston auburn is way developed I got lost!!! I
lived down the street from the raceway (not there anymore) which was across from mardens... didnt recognize any of it and drove in circles finding my way to mechanic falls.

I loved maine but it was a good move for me to come back to NY when I did .

again HI!!!

"John"

Welcome cyborg, be sure to find some good gloves for the upcoming months!

10 F is a bit cold, but fun with the right clothing and once you get going and get warmed up internally (13 miles rt in Portland)

Ok, cool. I'm from Auburn/Lewiston and my mountain bike is from Roy's. I'm now living in Dallas, TX, but still have the bike.

Welcome, cyborg! I live in Westbrook and commute to the Maine Mall area, 5 mi each way, all year, starting on my 6th year. I have an online and in-person commuting club here, which you are welcome to check out. We just had a meeting on "How to Ride All Winter". Dressing is key, as well as visibility in the dark.

Mikepop, I like your sig!

Welcome, Cyborg. Although I moved to Portland not too long ago, I've lived in Maine all my life and have pedaled across the state many times. Us Mainers as well as the other Bikeforums members look forward to seeing you around in the various boards.

Glad you are with us.

Greetings, all. I'm from Lewiston, Maine.

I'm not really a bicycle newbie... but I haven't been on a bicycle for decades.

I'm leaning toward "cruiser" bikes, or bikes that allow me to sit up straight... particularly need a good sturdy bike that will hold my 325 pound body.

I'm looking at biking mainly to get back in shape, and have a little fun as well. Yes, I'd like the ability to carry a few groceries.

Does anyone have any good tips? I'd particularly love to meet up with any folks in the Lewiston/Auburn area. I don't have a car, but live right near the local bus station.

It sounds like Roy's bikes is a good place to visit.

Hi SS, you should definitely check out the Clydesdales/Athenas forum. A great group of folks, who all have the experience with bikes suitable for big folks. They are fun, motivating, and great fun!

Welcome to BF!
