I'm going to be working in Lowell, MA area a few days a week and plan to bring my bike. Any suggestions for a good ~25 mile loop to start of my mornings?

Shirley MA here and boy do I feel out of shape! I just started riding and I can only manage about 3 miles and I'm pooped! Perhaps I'm trying too hard or the 76 Schwinn Traveler I'm riding is making it harder than it should be.
I think a 20 mile ride would just about kill me!
Anyone know of any bike shops in the central Mass area that sells used bikes or works on really OLD used bikes?
-Brian

GearWorks in Leominster may be your best bet; they don't sell used bikes per se, but they have had used bike sales. Another possibility is Gamache Cycles in Fitchburg. I suspect that either would be able to work on your bike.

Minga! I'm in the Merrimac Vally, Methuen Mass. I ride road, fixed, MTB F/S, hard tail and fixed.
Lately I've been riding the Bay State Circuit from River Road In Tewksbury, through Harold Parker State Forest, to Boxford State Forest. Its 90% off road. Most is Fast single track, some fire road. and some really crunchy technical single track.

I am on the seacoast of NH and just picked up a new Tommaso. Getting everything together for it. Was riding a Fuji hybrid for a few months, trying to get back in to shape. Go out a couple of times a week with a friend, not sure if there any riding groups in Rye/Hampton/North Hampton area.

I'm just up the road in Maine. I also ride a lot down Rye/Hampton Beach. I also commute year around to the Shipyard.

Worcester here...30-40+mi rides at this point (though currently bound to the trainer) at about 16mph on a old steel frame. I'll be upgrading come spring. The rider looking for used bikes in C. MA, you can check out Barney's in Worcester they always have a few used bikes of varying prices and they are online.

I lived in Worcester 15 years ago. Its a great city for hill workouts!
Also a great city for flats. I got a lot of experience sewing tubulars when I lived there.

S. Maine, here, but I ride mostly to the NH seacoast. New Castle/Rye/Hampton along the water is as good as it gets. I likely get passed by the other local posters on a regular basis!
Also ride near GF's house in Manchester. Bedford has beautiful riding, trading hills for the coast's wind...

Finally!!!! The weather the last couple of days has been exceptional and I was able to get in about 60 miles of real riding! Aside of the bike looking like it had been through the Paris- Roubaix road race when I was done, and a good hour to clean the bikes, it was awesome! Temps in the 40s, sun, little wind, I couldn't have been happier.
Northern Ma, So NH - Rt 12 to Keene, 119, 140, 31S to Wachesett were all in amazingly good condition for this time of year. Surprisingly very few potholes to contend with.
Anyone else been out riding in the area, reports?
John
