water purification tablets for organizers water

At my last enduro MT bike race. 99 mile one in Lutsen MN
i was doing good till after mile 70. at the aid station i ran out of water so i refilled my camel bak with their water supplied in the coolers. the water i had was from home, filtered
when i drank their water my stomach felt sick

i think something to do with their water, not used to the impurity or something
but if that was the case

if i had some water purification tablets with me

would using them by dumping them in to my camel bak, make the situation better?

thanks?

Generally those things release chemicals into the water that neutralize the bacteria and stuff that could make you sick.

They often leave the water with a funky taste that in itself might make you feel sick too.
