Think Out of Funk
I do believe I am coming out of my "Over 50 and hating it" funk. Went for gravel road ride this morning. Temperature was 38F. Colder than what I usually allow, but I had to do something.
Tell you the truth, it was liberating to cruise down vacant roads in the chilly air. I will do it again tomorrow if not raining. Found a new lease on happiness today!

You have to grow old, but you don't have to grow up.
I plan on buying a plastic goat mask, putting LEDs in it, and hiding it in Goatman Gulch for to scare the crap out of whoever stumbles upon it. It keeps me young.

Great news glad you are feeling better. I use bike rides mostly for mood control cuz if I don't ride I feel like Im gonna go nuts.

For many people, the decade of the 50's is the best time of their lives. Kids out of the house (finally!), haven't yet incurred the infirmities of age (if you're lucky), and hopefully have some disposable income. Enjoy life while you can!

Good to hear, TiHab; I remember when I was getting ready to turn 50 -- decided that, since I'd MADE it to that plateau, why be 'normal', 'politically correct', 'socially acceptable', any of that? Do what I want (outside taking care of my responsibilities), say what I want, HOW I want, and be damned to what other people think. It's worked out pretty well so far. (55 in a touch over 4 months....)

You young punks complaining about getting old really annoy me! 
Unfortunately, I'm in the midst of a non-age-related funk that I probably won't get out of 'til spring since the weather 'round here just jumped from Indian summer to middlin' winter. The wife and I went through a major change in our routines in August that has us commuting together. We're both the kind that finds it difficult to get out of the office at 5:00, and that coupled with the necessarily longer commute, the shortened days and a pile-up of weekend commitments has kept me off the bike for more than a couple of casual neighborhood rides through a couple of months of gorgeous weather. This has been hard as we commute along a parkway that is well-populated with cyclists.
I'm hoping that I can talk the wife into making a schedule shift to get us into and out of the office an hour earlier starting next spring, and I'll drag her butt with me when I go for the after-work ride. At least, that's the plan...
