After lunch, I was adding up my calories and got a little concerned that I might not be able to maintain the daily deficit with the mildly indulgent Valentine's dinner tonight. Rather than cut back my planned dinner consumption, I put the girl down for a nap and squeezed in 45 min on the trainer. Now I can have dessert again.

Indeed. I knew it before hand, too, but we had some leftovers that I didn't want to go to waste, so I ate them... but then I didn't want them to go to my waist, so I pedaled.

When I want to drop weight, yes, I track daily (unless it's a long ride day, or something, where I couldn't possibly eat my way out of the caloric hole). The app that I use keeps tabs on stuff that I consume regularly and it'll autocomplete within a few keystrokes. Then I just adjust quantity, if necessary.
