Giant Cypress without a doubt. An XL no doubt. Super comfortable, great quality, and affordable.

You can't do any better! Go ride one and see for yourself. Check out some of the Treks, Cannondales and Diamnodbacks, etc... too so you can appreciate the Giant more and see what I'm talking about.

Electra Townie is great for casual riding. No matter what bike you get, you'll probably have to upgrade the wheels to something in 36 to 40 spoke range.

Here's a link to the Clydesdale sub-forum, which has lots of good info.

Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg)

IMO, hybrids are pretty awesome.

Surly Trucker seems to be pretty popular among Clydes.

Make sure the bike your choose has no less than 36 spokes (12ga.) per wheel.

For a heavy rider, both of these suggestions are good. But for a heavy AND tall rider I fear the bikes will generally be too small for a comfortable fit. I am a wee bit taller thant he OP and I have tried Electra bikes and they are too small. And I have never seen a Dutch bike for sale with a large enough frame for me (I know they must exist but I have never seen one).

I suggest a rigid mountain or hybrid bike with 32 or (better) 36 spokes per wheel and a cassette tube rear hub instead of a freewheel. A 6'3" rider will probably need the XL size (~23") of any model of bike to be comfortable.

Not sure what your budget is, but I am same height and a bit bigger than you and have been very happy with the Surly Ogre. Good, solid steel frame and able to get the Jones handlebars in a comfortable position. It is a bit of a touring style setup and works well for paved or old rail trails. I echo the advice on wheels ... 36-40 spoke count, good rims, and a wider tire may also be desirable.

Hope everyone is having a good Labor Day weekend. I checked out my two local bike stores. The first one just took my name and said they would find something for me and I've never heard back lol. Stopped in Bikeland, very nice salesman, explained my concerns about my weight, as if he couldn't notice, lol. He showed me a Townie 7 speed I believe which was about 500.00. I was more interested in the next bike, a Electra Townie 3 speed I believe, a little bigger, bigger tires, runs about 600.00. he really felt that the 32 spokes should be fine if I'm just street riding. Questioned about upgrading to 36-40 spokes but he felt 32 should be fine and hold off until riding first. Quoted me the upgrade rims but kept telling me I may not need them. Not complaining here, he was very pleasant to deal with, just asking y'all for an opinion. I did some homework on other bikes, seems like I would need to drive a good ways or have to order one which I don't want to do. Bikeland also informed me on the repair options if needed.

Update your location in your profile, it may get you better feedback.
If roads are dead flat, a 3 speed may be ok.
Any hills, and you will REALLY appreciate more gear choices.

Any thoughts on an older bike? There are plenty of large frames out there, and you should be able to do some minor upgrades and a tuneup of an old road bike for the same cost as those options are new. A new wheelset might not even be out of the question. One of the nice things about used bikes in this size range, is that they often go for cheaper than a bike of similar quality in a more common size. A quick search on my local craigslist has a 2007 Trek 520 (which would be perfect, a long-lasting steel bike with a strong wheelset for touring,) for $200. After a recent tuneup, and with fenders and rear rack.
