Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Carbon fork- normal wear?

Hi all,
Took a spill on my FastAs****mobile from a bump that twisted the bars out of my hands. The fork didn't take any impact, or not that I could see as I sailed gracefully over it, and there are no deep scrapes. I'm confident getting back on it.

While inspecting, though, I noticed what may be some delamination around the back of the brake mounting hole. It's an old fork (Profile Design BSC), and I was hoping some of the more knowledgeable hands around could say whether it's normal wear or some actual issue.

Looks like just the clear coat coming off a bit, which is a very different thing than delamination (fibers coming loose). I'd ride it and not worry about it. If the appearance bothers, use some fine sandpaper to remove the loose stuff then re-clear coat it (spray or nail polish). It won't be good as new but it will look better.

OK that's what I thought, just wanted to check in with people who'd had more than one carbon fork. Thanks.
