Does anyone know if 2.0-tires would fit a Multitrack-frame?

Going to depend on the particular tire and your rim width .
I just put some Panaracer Tour 700x42’s on my 730 because they wouldn’t go on my Schwinn Crisscross.
Dropped right into the rear dropouts on my Trek 730. They are 1.65”.


45mm Might fit , but I’m not sure 2.0 “ will , that's almost 51mm .

I think some frames are a little wider than others. 50mm tires will not fit in my '97 750's frame. I think a 45-47mm tire is about as large as I could physically fit in it, and that wouldn't allow for much (if any) clearance. I think 45mm is a size that is fairly safe to recommend for any steel MultiTrack bike, with the note that some frames seem to allow even larger than this. The wider you go, the smoother the tread profile will need to be (side lugs that stick out could contact the frame, whereas a smooth and rounded tread profile wouldn't). Also be mindful of tire size with relation to rim width and brake clearance. You'll need to ensure (or at least, probably prefer) that your inflated tire can slide into the frame between the open brake arms. Brake shoe dimensions can impact this, as thicker and longer pads can limit how far a brake arm can physically open.

I have a '93 700 with 43mm tires. They fit fine, but I don't think a 2" would fit.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'm replacing the wheels in the near future, so I'm going for a wider rim anyway (that wouldn't be the issue.
The tire I was considering was a Schwalbe Fat Frank, but I'll see if I can test with some old 2.0's before I buy something new.

A Fat Frank definitely has a rounded profile and would probably have the best chances of fitting of any 2" tire. I still think it's iffy.

Here's mine. First job is taking of the spay-paint (already did a little test with some acetone). It's a 720, probably from 1992 (720E to be precise).
Not many original parts on the bike, but the previous owner did put a Shimano Ultegra crank and rear-derailleur.

I've been looking all around to find Trek 750 730 Multitrack sizing information for the 1990-1995 period. I'd like to find height and inseam sizing information. I can find frime measurements, but not human sizing for frames. Anybody got that information?

Also what is the market price for a 750 Multitrack 1990-1991 with lugs? A range would be good.

I sure have enjoyed looking at all the pictures posted. Presently I have a Peter Mooney Stage LL Fillet Brazed bike with Dura-Ace components. Nice bike, but at 70 I'm looking for something a little more laid back in a more upright position. These Trek 750 Multitrack seem just right especially if I can get one with lugs. Have the fun is the hunt.

We'll all fit a little different on different frame sizes. Even subjective criteria must be factored in, like whether you prefer a more upright riding position or a more elongated one. What are your height and true inseam/standover measurements. By "true" inseam, I don't mean your trouser length. I mean a true measurement from the floor to...well...to where you truly have no more room. This is generally several inches higher than your pants size. This is one number that may help in frame fit, but it's definitely not the only metric.

The post-COVID bike market is a mess. Some sellers are asking double or triple the usual market value for stuff. And you can still sometimes find a deal, depending on where you are. I would say that a seller who knows what he or she has with a 1990-1993 MultiTrack 730 or 750 (lugged frame) would probably ask $300 for one in very nice condition. Maybe $200-300 for "average" condition. There's someone near me asking $320 for a bottom-tier tig-welded 700. Maybe they'll get that; I don't know. That's not what a basic 700 is normally worth, but this market is pretty crazy right now.

The bars are just old Control tech at like 44cm width, Stem is like a '95-ish Trek system 1 stem that stretched to work with road bars, Tektro brake levers, DuraAce down tube shifters mounted onto barcon blanks, and red cork tape.

There was a lugged 750 on FB in my community for $100 about a month ago and I vacillated for about an hour over whether or not to ditch my 730 for it before someone snapped it up. So I’ve been kicking myself for about a month.

I am in the same boat of getting my post count up to share some images of my recent craigslist find - a 1992 Trek 790 MultiTrack. I have to give a massive shout out to the folks on this thread. I was in the market and I had no idea if a MultiTrack was worth owning. This thread alone convinced me to make the purchase and I am so glad I did. It rides like a dream and I could not be happier!

Great looking 750! Did you do most of the work on it? I am curious as to the stem you have in place - it looks real sharp and is presume was not stock.

Hey thanks! I have been swapping out parts since I acquired the bike. It’s a Nitto Pearl stem, a bit pricey but I felt like treating myself.

Recently posted in the introductions forum and am also posting here to shamelessly get my post count up. With everything going on in the world I recently gave into my long lingering urge to get back on a bike for the first time since my youth. After spending some time lurking on this forum and specifically this thread, I decided a trek hybrid is probably the best choice for me. After only about 2 weeks of searching, a 1992 Trek 790 popped up on OfferUp which was a little under an hour away. It wasn’t a crazy bargain, but I feel like I got a reasonable deal considering how long I had to wait and the craziness of the Covid market. I picked it up yesterday and couldn't be happier. The blue is incredible and actually feels comfortable for my 5’6” height, which had been my hurdle up to this point.

The bike seems to be stock. Knowing next to nothing about working on bikes I’m not sure were to start, or if it really even needs major upgrading immediately. I think I’ll start with getting a new seat and a water bottle holder.
