...the wonky rear brake cable routing is selfmade... it was just a test, finally will change the routing... but the solution from Schwinn isn't too nice...

I noticed that after I posted. I used a pair on my Fuji, but I still ran the cable along the top-tube.

It looks to me like you need to trim the length of your cables, too. You could do with a lot less stray cable flapping around. Otherwise, your bike looks nice. The flat bars look nicer than the wonky drops it came with.

...today we finally installed a new rear brake cable type shimano m series... the routing stayed the same but it fits much better now because of the optimized cable length... i bought 3M cable clips, they are very strong and should hold a lifetime... also we cutted the front brake cable and fitted it to perfect length... i finished the "tuning" for the first time... in near future i will install a black brooks and the grips of brooks...

I've seen some bad cable routing in my day, but this is truly the worst.

Okay, maybe not the reaction i expected to get as newbie. But i probably understood the message - in some cases. Time to concentrate to the topic again.

Okay, your cable routing is indeed silly.

I'm always amazed at the things people will do to give their bike a "cleaner" aesthetic that always end up looking much more like crap than if they just do something properly to begin with.

A good look is usually in the eye of the beholder. The cable routing is possibly not the best optical option for everybody. But i am always picking the bike on top tube. A cable on this tube is always disturbing me. It is my first real singlespeed bike for daily use. Maybe i will change the routing anytime, at the moment it is functional for me.

That's okay. I'd hate me too. And for the record, I mean this exact frame, not just an 87 Madison.

I had one a few years ago. If you kit it out with neon deep V's, I'll hunt you down!
