Sharing my NYC/CT/NJ adventures! #SpicyAdventureNYC
I just thought I'd start a thread to log/share my current adventures in NYC area. I'm doing a series about electric bicycles which started in Los Angeles and now I've flown out to NYC and will be doing a series of trips and experiments. I want to do things like race public transportation and automobiles. I want to do day trips to places like Fire Island, City Island, Stamford CT and more. I will be recording it all and I've never done anything like this on a bicycle. In fact I don't have much of a bicycle background as an adult at all. My adult years were spent on inline skates. Longest trip was 23 or 26 miles once down by Far Rockaway. I'll also be doing reviews on various bike products and on restaurants and maybe hotels. I welcome you to follow my adventure here if you like and please don't hesitate to offer suggestions as for destinations, roads or whatever.
The bike I will be on is the Spicy Curry from Yuba. It's an electric cargo bike and I've been getting warmed up for the long trips with great success thus far. I've down Englewood cliffs NJ to Teterboro and NYC to Glen Cove NY and all over Manhattan. I plan to do a 5 borough tour and show some of the best kept secrets like the bike path from Seaview ave to Far Rockaway, Victorian Flatbush, Malba Queens, west side bike path and more!
I'll try to put together a quick video to show some of the stuff I've done so far. Right now I'm of to do some reviews on the camera mounts I'll be using from Ram Mounts. I've got a cellphone, tablet, Drift Ghost-S and GoPo mounts and clamps. Let the fun begin!

Rode from NYC to Staten Island today for first time! Was not bad but Ferry ride back we had to put bikes in back and I'm not leaving my bike back there so I had to stay with it in this thing like a dog kennel without walls. lol. BEAUTIFUL view coming back after sunset! Wish I could post some stuff, but I'm so tired! I filled up all my cards today. A guy brought a LaFerrari to the event and I got great shots of that. I had my quadcoptor strapped to the back of the bike and took some great shots with it.
OH...forgot the charge the bike last night. Realized it this morning. That was fun!!

Do Roosevelt Island- Ride to Queens, and then you can find the bridge to Roosevelt Island at the end of 36th Ave. Talk about views of Manhattan...

Did a review on the Spicy Curry electric bike
So going on a month riding about 40+ miles a day and wanted to share my experiences. Here is basic break down:
Pro:
I can carry everything with me with EASE!
I can hold 22MPH-24MPH all day with little effort
I'm getting more exercise by far than I was getting with my Schwin.
Nothing like exploring new places on a bicycle and not worrying about hills and range anxiety is sweet too!
Great brakes
Feels real stable doing 30+MPH...as long as you are on decent roads
Hills don't exist anymore
Ladies seem to like it!
Con:
No SUSPENSION!!
Seat is OK, but doing more than 10 miles is not ideal. Still I do twice that and I'm OK
Noisy brakes but I use them as a horn!
Geared like a truck; CAPABLE of fast speeds, but you need a REALLY fast cadence!
Heavy and large so taking on public transportation is possible but can be a hassle
Headlight can't aim far enough ahead for the speeds it can do
Can get REAL wobbly when loaded up and going less than 10MPH
