Gary Fisher Superfly Cracked Frame - Is Trek stalling?

My 18-month old Gary Fisher Superfly has a cracked frame. I had no accidents, did nothing unusual and have less than 1,500 miles on it, none on articularly challenging trails.
As I read the forums, it seems this hae been a major problem with the '09 SF... my LBS found it Monday, said it was clearly a failure caused by manufacture, not me. They took pictures and expected Trek to say go ahead, replace.

But that's not what Trek did. Instead, they wanted the LBS to return the frame to them for inspection.

I'm worried as other forums indicate that Trek seems to drag its feet and not take care of this issue. I don't know. My LBS was surprised.

I posted a picture of the crack here on my blog https://michiganbiking.org/cracked-frame-on-superfly

Should I be concerned? Anyone else have experience with this?

I paid some $4,000 for this bike and need it for an event coming up on July 16.

Where's the crack located? If it's on the chainstays, there's been a ton of issues with them.

It's hit and miss with Trek with the warranty department and depends on what terms the dealer is with trek.

Dude, I am sorry to hear that, do a search, I had a thread about my GF that cracked and the hassles I had. Ultimately Trek / GF did the right thing, but only after they caught wind of all the negative press, but by that time I had purchased a new Niner frame and moved forward.

It took three weeks but Trek replaced the frame at no charge. Got a new frame and because design changed, I had to get a few new parts but glad they honored it. Just picked it up tonight and am riding tomorrow...
