Definitely winding down with two pending surgeries in the next month. One of them will keep me off the bike for 2-3 months and out of the gym and lifting weights for 6 month

What is this "winding down" of which you speak?
Got a dozen projects in the queue, bumping up the riding miles and heading for spin class when the day's completely rainy. Trying to organize an early summer group vintage tour (how come you haven't chimed in on that one, Robbie?), making plans for the Palm Springs Gran Fondo in February, plus...Lake Como in 2015. Gonna do it. Just got a note from Vince that he wants to do the Hincapie tour thing in May, too. Boy gives me no rest...

Spent the summer riding like a madman and working out ways to keep riding through the winter. First bit of cold and rain comes along and I'm coughing and wheezing and sitting home wrapped in a blanket drinking hot lemon tea like a little baby.
MapMyRide send me an automated email with my previous week's riding stats and I've only been out 3 times....
What to do? My first bad cold in years. The previous bad one lasted/lingered for almost 6 weeks!!
In the words of [guess who]..
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze...

Haven't been able to do any wrenching in a month or so, so a backlog is building up. Need to create some indoor working space.

Ramping up because I'm not a fan of the heat here during the summer and winter...if you can call it that here is perfect.

Ramping up. Heading west for a month, or so, to visit kids, grand kids and other family members. Taking a Peugeot Course with me, all the way to Prince George, in British Columbia then on to Jamaica for the winter. Will be back at my lake home next April. And...
Looking forward to seeing my new/old Mercier, that an elderly couple, living on Vancouver Island, sent to me, for free. It was shipped to my oldest daughter in Winnipeg. Looks like I have a project waiting there for me already...
Yup, definitely ramping up.

Ramping up (slightly). I'm looking for a build to use at next summer's D2R2 ride. That and maintaining the current rides- the MTB and one road bike are past due for an overhaul and new cables.

It never rains in California anymore. Could have used a second waterbottle today, a downside of traditional C&V.

Oh, you meant riding? Mtb'ing is gorgeous here now next to the ardennes so I did that everyday for a week. Have to get back to riding after spending all summer jogging like some stupid beast from before Starley, training for my first half marathon. Gf's orders; she's a runner, not a biker (yet!).

I'll be ramping down my riding now with the cooler weather coming in.
Went out for a hard and fast 30 miler, and it was to hard, an indication my fitness for the year has peaked and my body is readying itself for the long winter.
I have some work to get done on my bikes, and I'll be in the gym to keep myself ready for next spring though...

Lack of daylight and cooler temperatures conspire to make my workouts shorter and less frequent. This is the time of year at my job where the time gets put in. Right now I'm still enjoying the outdoor rides, though a little more leisurely. Once the snow flies it will transition to shorter but more intense workouts.
Teaching spin classes is great motivation to show up
Hopefully, we have decent snow this year and I can get out nordic skiing on the lighted trails. I signed myself up to do at least the 35k Vasaloppet this year, so I can't let myself slide too far before getting back into things for spring.

I'm kind of ramping up in preparation for ramping down, if that makes any sense. I've lined up a few winter projects to keep me occupied, but the riding will start tapering off in a month or so. I'll be keeping an eye on the forecasts, but generally don't head out unless the weather is going to be at least in the forties.

Ramping down. Need 36 more miles to reach a goal for the season. Looks like next weekend will be it.
Gym 2-3 times per week until March.

After a slow September I've been ramping up my riding. Come December, I'll pretty much be done riding so I'm trying to squeeze as many rides as I can in. I've got at least 3 projects for the winter to keep me busy (a 70's Atala Gran Prix, Nashbar touring bike drivetrain redo, and a 72' Super Sport townie build).

Winding neither down nor up yet. Don't know how long that will continue though.

The roads around Lake Como are awesome but I'm not sure I'd want to ride them, at least not on a bicycle. Very narrow a lot of traffic and they drive crazy! We were just there in September.
