First metric
Completed my first Metric Century this weekend. It was at the Tour de Cure in Charlotte, NC. It actually ended up being 65 miles due to the signs at the start of the ride being wrong and we all went a mile in the wrong direction before some one caught us and turned us around. I did pretty good 4 hours 11 minutes 28 seconds, moving average of 15.5 mph. I didn't know anyone at the ride but was lucky to link up wit a couple of young guys from Virginia Tech about 6 miles in and they set a good pace that helped me do so well on this ride. I couldn't believe how good I felt at the end of the ride, I was tired, but not wiped out. I look forward to doing it again sometime, just not right now.

Be careful long group rides are habit forming! A year ago I would have never dreamed I could/would do one. Did my first metric last month and did another a week later. Now I can't wait for the next one. I have no idea why but when I do a long ride with a group I feel a lot better afterwards than I do when I do it alone.
I see longer rides in your future. You enjoyed that one so just like a junkie you will need another fix soon!

Thanks guys. It was a little bit faster pace than I had planned on but it seemed much easier in the group. The weather was nice, after it quit raining, it was mid 80's and slightly overcast for the majority of the ride. I have to admit I can see how it could get addicting, it was one of the best highs I've ever had. I am doing a "short" 30 mile ride this coming Sunday. I will more than likely do this ride again next year, I will have to think about doing a longer ride. There is a nice century in my area in August, I have time to train.

Congrats! If you can do a metric you can do an imperial. Enjoy.
