Thanks all. I’m not feeling up to a long download of the back story, but the back surgery went well. It was about 10 hours of blissful sleep.....followed by extreme pain so far. Each day gets better, but the pain is pretty intense. When I get the cd of before and after x-rays, I’ll post them up. It’s crazy. It’s also crazy to think the surgery was a week ago! Seems like it was yesterday.

Ha! My wife has a fake hip and gets pulled over for extra screening Every. Single. Time. we go anywhere.

Interestingly, if the porno scanners are working and she gets through there, they usually let her go. Otherwise it's pat down city and you know how efficient the TSA are... what a PITA. Interestingly my foot plate never sets off the scanners.

Also interestingly, the scanners at the Coliseum (Rams/Trojans) never catch my foot plate NOR my pocket knife but DID catch my son's 8 oz coke can that I put in his hoody. Of course, they sort of waved a scanner at him half-assedly and let him go, so that's some top notch security right there.

I’m reluctant to share this, for fear that a mod will reprimand me and move this thread to P&R. So let me just say that if you are offended by Christianity, please do not click on this link. This is the upload from Saturday night’s service. Our communications team shot a clip of PhotoJoanne and I talking about “Thankfulness”. Our things starts at 00:36:00. My voice is normally much stronger than this but I was having a hard time managing emotions, especially at the end.

Thank you for sharing, PJ. I count myself fortunate to be able to see and hear that testimony. Me and mine are keeping you in our prayers.

@PhotoJoe your endless litany of excuses as to why you are not riding your bike are getting a little tiresome.

Yah, but you have to at least applaud my commitment to it! I take the saying “He’ll do anything to get out of riding his bike” to an entirely new level!

Indeed, you're all in, that's for sure.

I remember the shingles bit, that's what you were thinking you had when we chatted at Cool Breeze. Thanks for the video link, good job keeping it together, you did better than me and I was just watching.

You also take the saying "Cancer broke my back" to a whole new, and literal level!

You're going to need to borrow some jerseys though. I have some 2XL Castelli jerseys that would probably fit you.

A new road opened near me and I rode it this morning. Later I created a Strava segment for it since there was none. So for now I'm in first place (out of three riders!) I'll enjoy it while I can!

Update to the info I posted above: Note, they got the date wrong. The promotion ends 11-27 NOT 2-27

Hello Tour de Palm Springs riders,

We recently sent an email to enjoy a Black Friday Special using a code. However, the code did not work correctly. I have added this CODEBLK Special to the top of our registration page. Just click on the link below. The special will end on February 27th at 11:30pm PST. I apoligize for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you at our 20th Anniversary Tour de Palm Springs on February 10th, 2018 in beautiful downtown Plam Springs.

Thank you and have a nice holiday.

1) I have been riding since somewhere around 1983.
2) I am a hoarder
3) I probably have smaller jersies in the closet somewhere.

I'll probably sign up this year since it's not in January anymore AND I don't have any stupid soccer conflicts anymore.

Note that the jersey isn't free - it's basically $30. Wait a few years and you can get it for less than that anyway.
@PhotoJoe - maybe you'll fit into that cupcake jersey with another round of radiation and chemo. Good to see you banging the keys again.

Hey, did you notice the Boyd wheel special this year? BUy a set of carbon wheels and get a FREE Altamont wheelset. I really wanted to find a deal like you got last year and I really don't need more carbon wheels - anybody here jonesing for fancy carbon wheels that want to go splitsville on this "deal"?

Whassup with their jersey sizing? I can wear a 2x race cut or an XL club fit. I have a couple 2x club cuts that are somewhat loose but OK. When I bought the 2015 PS jersey I could not even get a 2x over my shoulders. I traded it in for a 3x which fits me ok now (204# instead of 214), but is still one my snuggest.
