Vain, But Lacking Talent
The amount of force type work I'm doing is short, but super intense. 1:10 last night, with warm up and spin down. Example: Last night was 1 hour tempo with a 30" 53x12 seated sprint on the 3's. Start, 3'-6'-9' with the last at 57'. so the last 2.5 minutes was rest at tempo... Weights this morning, over/unders tonight. With this type of program, one can get on their bike and ride for a week at Z2, and finally get off the bike because you're tired of riding the bike, not because you're worn out. Weights and force do wonders for endurance.

Bobby Julich was living in Philly (Roxborough) for a time with his then GF. One New Year's Eve I rode out the SRT to a party at a the house of a friend who lives near the Betzwood trailhead. Ended up spending the night. Rode home the next morning. Near the east end of the trail I stopped at a picnic table to shed some layers. Guy in a Cofidis kit with no helmet came spinning by on a SS. Took me a second to realize it was Julich. He waved to me.

Ok, so to wrap things up, the headache stopped on its own Saturday. While working on a project around the house while medicated I suddenly realized late in the day that I had missed a dosage, or two, yet my head wasn't hurting. Finally, after six straight days! Woohoo!!! I've been pain free every since.
Yesterday I had an appointment with a neurologist, a headache specialist. What a pleasant woman, with reassuring information. My condition is called Primary Stabbing Headache and my symptoms fit the profile to a tee. It's relatively uncommon in the general medical world but very familiar to headache specialists. It has been known to be worse in some cases but my experience was within the range of "typical". There's no known malignant cause for them and it doesn't pose any other dangers so we're just going to do an MRI to cover that base, and she gave me some stronger meds for the next time they return. I've had these stabbing headaches before, for many many years, but they've never been anywhere near so severe or relentless, usually lasting less than 24 hours and always going away without treatment. Usually once or twice a year at most. But not this time. Why, who knows?
But all in all it was very comforting to speak with a doctor who's clearly very bright and willing to spend enough time with you to hear your story, instead of feeling rushed to get out of an office so they can see the next patient. Almost makes you tear up. :sniffle:
I'm happy!
Thanks to to all you lugs for your concern and support.

I love when collection agencies come after the federal government without the vaguest notion of what it is.

So the organizer just posted a vid of him scouting the route in his truck. Yeah, I think less than 2.5 hours is optimistic for my short route. Lots of recent rains and storms have made some stretches of gravel very interesting. I just mounted up some 700x35 Gravelking slicks and now I'm thinking 40 would have been better. Not that they would fit on the Crockett...
