Just wondering if anyone bought a bike from Nashbar? How's their quality?

Probably damn similar to the 100+ other brands of bike that are made by the same contract manufacturers in Chaina or Taiwan.

I personally have one of their Reynolds 853 steel MTB frames sitting in my garage waiting to be built (waiting for my current frame to fail). It appears well made and is reasonably light.

I would expect a complete bike to be decent and have the same comprimises on parts quality you would expect form a larger manufacturer.

I built up one of their MTB frames. Love it. Got Nashbar discs, front rim & shifters. Works well for the price.

Decent frame, crap components. I bought mine for the frame, basically, and will be stripping off the junk hardware this winter. Once I have good stuff on, it will be a nice little bike, but not the one I'd use on a first date.

Thanks for your replies. I'm not looking anything fancy. My commuter was stolen last week. Bah... don't wanna talk about it. Pains me pisses me off. Keep thinking what I'd do if I were to caught the @#$%&*. Anyhow looking for an economical replacement.

There is nothing wrong with the Nashbar AL-1 road bike. Shimano Sora components, the same or better than most any other entry-level road bike. The Nashbar frame is well-regarded. I have the frame and the same carbon fiber fork, and I am perfectly satisfied.

Needing to go even cheaper, I wouldn't hesitate on their single-speed commuter bike if they have the right size in stock.

i had their 105 drivetrain steel/carbon CX bike. -great- for the price. zero problems and as good as similar spec'd name brands.

sold it to a friend that fell on hard times and he's been doing 300mi weeks on it with no complaints.
