In my experience you can push power to a point then your heart rate will shoot up and your not going any faster, no more power. I have not played with cadence/powet/HR for awile but my sweet spot was 80/90 cadence. Gearing is a little screwy for me on these rrollrrs too, I end up about two cogs into the cassette on the big chain ring...no sense gaming the FTP test by buying a different cassette just for that :-).

FTP/kg is what really matters, and yours seems to keep going up!

Yes watt per kg is the important number, but the raw FTP number shows what speed you could in theory achieve in a flat level no wind 10 mile TT ?...yes rider X at 180lbs will have a little more wind drag than rider X at 140lbs(same person) but with equal FTP the weight penalty on level ground should not have a drastic effect ?I think trainer road shows me just over 2 watts per kg.

Heavier riders have more rolling resistance, so FTP/kg isn't meaningless on the flat. But way to explain away my attempt to give you a compliment.

Naa I was not trying to do THAT :-).....

Working on ALL the factors in the equation is the best was to increase the ratio :-).

The guy that is creating it calls it his rock garden , I have more pics, the sheer amount of work involved is amazing. I'm sure equipment was used to move the big rocks, but there are hundreds of feet of stone fences made of smaller stones

Rode my new wheel some today, I built it this winter, figured if I had any issues at all with my Fuji it would be rear wheel issues. I have not had any but decided to ride the spare wheel :-).

Kinda started the project when I spotted a SRAM X7 hub on sale at Amazon as a warehouse deal, could not pass it up for $17 :-). Added some stuff from Bike Hub Store :-)

BHS C472 32H, Sapim D-lite spokes,Sapim brass hex nipples.

When I went to the new tires it shaved about 100g off each wheel, and the new wheel is 125g lighter than the stock one.....so that is 225g lighter on rear wheel and tire.....all rotating weight :-).

Not obsessing about weight but it is kinda fun to track stuff like that.

I cannot say the new wheel rides dramatically different than stock, even though stock is 2 cross straight gauge, and new is 1.65/2.0 butted 3 cross.

One of my faults is getting things half done and never finishing, so riding this wheel is a good thing :-).

Edit: Lucky I made it home I guess :-)......tube blew with bike sitting in living room, a Veloplug apparently migrated from where it belonged. Guess I need to get some rim tape.

Alright, snagged a roll of 1/2" Filament tape at the hardware store, 2 layers with no veloplugs and we are back in business. max sidewall pressure is 125, so I pumped it up to that, deflated and had a look, tape looks like some strong stuff :-). It is some random podunk brand, will snag some 3M next weekend when I'm in the big city.

I googled up the subject and a lot of folks use the filament tape. some over veloplugs, some without veloplugs.

MTD 112 miles.

104.7K today :-). just over 4 hours moving time, 16.1 average, and a mother flicker of a 10mph wind for about half of it.

Strung a couple rides together, knew it was going to be right around 50mi, got within 1/2 mi of home at 52.5 and decided to get the Metric done :-).....headed on past 5 miles, 1 mile south, then back home 5 for 65.1 or so total, 104.7k.

Hurt a lot less than the metric I did last July 4th on my Trek Hybrid. Still had gas enough in the tank to hit 25mph in spots with that wind at my back on that last 5mi home :-).

180.2 today :-).....finally another 1.6 dropped, soooo close to a sub 180 weigh in :-). Changed over to 3 hard boiled eggs and a box mix muffin for breakfast, not sure if that is it, or the metric then eating back 1200-1400 for that ?...dunno :-). Did a really high intensity day Monday too, intervals 8 miles out into the wind, 5 on 2 off times 3, then 2 easy miles, then 8 miles back home with HR mostly 170 plus. We will see if the next week brings more loss.....or another plataue.

What do you use for a HRM?

I've never been too good at taking my own pulse.

Rounded to nearest mile / hour.....
2236 miles / 165 hours in 2014...average speed 13.51
1517 miles / 95 hours so far in 2015....average speed 15.96
Total 3753 miles / 260 hours from June 1-2014 to today.

Somebody asked this in the 100+ miles monthly goal thread, so I will post it here. Hate to put a number out there for May, it is a record month, and should get better still :-). MTD 621.48.
