I've lived in Winnipeg, that's cold. Now that I'm living in the Toronto area, I never complain about the cold. I know I have it easy compared with other parts of Canada. It's interesting to read that someone in Florida has a minimum temperature???
I suppose it would make a difference if you are commuting or just going for a ride.
Commuting=no minimum temperature
Bike ride=10C

0 f is my general rule. I've ridden in colder, but once you hit negetave temps the fun factor drops significantly.

The coldest I have ever known it to be here in Bangkok is about 23c. I'm not sure what that is in F but here it is enough for the government to declare a state of emergency and put out an urgent call for blankets.
But 23c isn't cold enough to stop me from riding. I think it would be great weather to ride in.

+1 I'll snowboard to the point my goatee is covered in ice. We had 30 mile an hour wind's in 8 degree weather on Thursday up at White pass. First chair, last call. No other way to do it.

The coldest we've had this winter has been -23C, which is something like -10F. I like that much more than say -3C (27F) that we have now. When it's cold it's usually dry and calm, warmer weather brings clammy humidity and wind plus it's much easier to dress warm enough without ending up sweating like a hog when it's colder.

In California, my min is like 50. And I'm sure this is why our min is MUCH higher then everyone else's, it's simply because I don't own any cold weather riding gear. I'm sure all of you riding in subzero temps are decked out head to toe. Riding in 50 degree weather in a lightweight bib and short sleeve jersey is not gonna happen for me.

With temps in the teens it gets hard for me to keep my toes warm.
I'll ride anyway and just complain about it to everyone I see.

Those freezing temps with a Northerly wind make it hard. I just layer it up. Coldest was mid 30's for me, but then in the afternoon its back up to 70...lol...so...can't complain

I can't believe we've gone three pages without anyone pointing out that "colder than hell" would technically mean that said person never bikes because it's always colder than hell! Unless maybe you're in Texas in the summer.
On that note, I bike in any weather because I live car-free, and I have to get to work somehow. Winter riding gear includes: ski goggles (for excessive wind), balaclava, windproof winter gloves, liner gloves, thick fleece sweatshirt, and windproof & waterproof jacket.
