How much is this Trek 2300 road bike worth?
To start, I live in Canada and I'm looking at a specific listing to get my 1st road bike for serious long distant riding to neighboring cities and towns. I just wanna know, how much would you pay for this? EDIT: I was going to link the post but can't do that it seems, but if you just search "Trek 2300 DT SWISS axis 2.0" it should come up on Kijiji first link on google. I've listed the modifications and specifications below and hope that's enough.
MODIFICATIONS
*Some important things to note, a few things were modified. He said he bought $500 for it and replaced the original wheels for the "DT SWISS axis 2.0", replaced the saddle, and added some "expensive pedals". Everything else is original. It has an Shimano Ultegra groupset (crank, derailleurs, brakes), and a carbon fork. Guy said it was a 2004 make.

He's asking $750 Canadian. You should be able to find the listing on google if you search what I quoted in the post, but I'm in Canada so maybe not. By the way, the bike itself looks pretty well kept and clean. I don't think I can send screenshots yet.

It could be worth $10 or maybe more who knows. In the end if the bike fits and you like it and nothing is broken or cracked or worn out pay what you feel is right and if not then it is worthless. In terms of posting links and such just get involved with the forums and you will be able to post links. You just need 10 actual posts and with the many currently active threads here that is a quick one to get.
However in the end a post tells you only a small part of the story sometimes only just the narrative they want to tell you and not the truth of the actual bike that is something that happens in person.

So, like $550 American? Seems a little high but if it is really clean and it fits you and you like it then it's probably worth it to you.
If you're not sure take a knowledgeable friend with you or see if they will let you take it to a shop. Hard to put a price on an old bike. Look for cracks.

The bike is an aluminum frame 20 year old machine. Asking price is a bit steep as there is nothing outstanding about the bike. In my neck of the woods this is a 475-550 Can bike.

I don't know what the US to Canadian conversion rate is, but for where I am, that is very over priced. And it also looks to be a small frame.

@intergalactic - if it is a low mileage bike and fits and you can get tires on it that are at least 25mm and you really like it - then I agree with @TiHabanero, $450-500 CAD tops (assuming $1.35 exch rate). A fairly high mileage bike will likely need new chain, cassette, maybe shifters and chainrings - becoming a poor deal quickly. Take a chain checking tool with you.

Nice bike but really only worth 400-450 CAD. In the current market there are just a lot of nice Aluminum framed carbon fork road bikes for sale and most of them seem not to move much over $400.

My first road bike. If I were shopping for it, I'd probably have some sentimental influence on the price, but even then, I agree it's too high. *and fwiw, it's most likely a 2003, not 2004.
Ultegra 9spd (53/39 and 12-25 at that), and a decent, but 20yr old aluminum? I'm thinkin in the US$250-300ish. But I don't do this for a living.

Good parts, nice shape, if it fits it's worth about 350.00 in my western Canada market. I picked up a similar spec Allez Festina replica for my wife for 300.00.

$350-$400 US if it’s a bike you want to ride. I don’t come across Ultegra STI bikes for less than that where I look.
I’m looking at a similar aluminum bike equipped with Dura Ace 7800 STI where I’d want just the group and wheels. It’s listed for $550 which is a fair price IMO for someone wanting the whole bike. Not much demand for aluminum racers so if it doesn’t sell, I’ll offer $400 which I’ll book as $275 for the group and $125 for the wheels. I’d give away the frame for free and the leftover parts get binned or sold at bargain prices.
That’s my logic trail anyway on these mid-grade aluminum bikes with nice equipment.

$400 in good shape $450 tops here in Des Moines. And that's fully cleaned, maintained and ready to go. We see a lot of Treks here in Trek country.

Alloy framed Trek is usually closer to Honda civic than Porsche. Although Porsche did make the Boxster too -- probably 5x as many of those as 911 variants and Panamera's
