Camping locations good for cycling

We do a lot of camping in our small, 25' motorhome and always take our bikes along. We are always looking for new bike friendly places to visit. I'd like to see a forum where members can share camping venues that are good places for recreational cycling such as trail systems, scenic byways, national and state parks, to name a few. Not limited to RV camping, but including car/tent camping and bike camping.

west coast?

on the east coast we love: "North of Highland Camping Area" in North Truro cuz we love "the cape" in general. it's near 3 bike trails, Pilgrim Spring, Province Lands & the CCRT

but this place is our little secret so don't tell anyone OK? this is basically where we raised our kids every summer ;-)
https://www.capecodcamping.com/

& there shouldn't be any sharks the end of June or the beg. of July

The list would be endless.

Wallace RV Park in Wallace, ID is just off the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes.

There is a campground just outside of White Haven, PA, near the Lehigh Gorge Trail.

The Missoula, MT KOA is on the west edge of town. From the center of town you can ride a trail system all the way to Hamilton, 40+ miles. Some nice views of the Bitterroot Mountains.

This place is along the Pine Creek Trail in PA:

Pettecote Junction Campground | Family Camping PA

Very nice trail. Saw a bear while riding it back in September.

Belleplain State Forest in Woodbine, NJ. Some nice, quiet backroads that take you out to East Point Lighthouse on the Delaware Bay. Lots of horseshoe crab, osprey and bald eagle viewing. Just don't go during greenhead fly season.

This place is along the Great Allegheny Passage (Google Maps shows it in the wrong spot):

So is this place:

A lot of times these questions are asked in the regional forums. You can ask about a specific state/region/area you plan on visiting and when.

I liked the campground in Zandvoort, NL.. not far from the AMS Shiphol airport , so perfect to sleep off jet-lag , the day of my arrival.

Before starting my bicycle tour..

Locally, Oregon (As OP should Know) Coast we have the Ft Stevens, OR State park. https://oregonstateparks.org/index.c...age&parkId=129

You are not too far. You really should go out to Neah Bay from Port Angeles.

Best specify what kind of cycling you want to do. I always thought camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway and riding up to the gap at Grandfather Mountain from Linville Falls or Price Lake was a blast. Only 10-15 miles up, and then you get to turn around and coast back. Best done shortly after breakfast when traffic was minimal.

You want to kick and coast in the late afternoon? You'd want to go somewhere else!

Camp at Wilton town park (pancake breakfast every Sunday morning), community swimming pool close by too, and ride the Sparta Elroy Trail. Wilton is about in the middle of the trail so you can go both directions. Good drive-in at the Sparta end of the trail for lunch. The Sparta Elroy is a rail-trail..the first one if memory serves. Three tunnels to walk through..beautiful trail.

Village of Wilton Campground

Or have Speeds Bike Shop in Sparta shuttle you up to the north end of the Great River Trail (just north of Trempealeau, WI) and ride the 4-Trails Tour.

https://www.bike4trails.com/

Or camp at Perrot State Park (WI) on the Mississippi River and bike the Trempealeau area..great loops on very rural roads.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach AL combined is a great area with many miles of bike friendly trails.
My personal favorite is the LOST trail - paved portion around the NE side of Lake Okeechobee in the winter months.
And then there is mountain biking on ATV trails around Creede CO in the summer.
In Texas the "Hill Country" has many miles of highway with VERY wide shoulders for great spring and fall rides.
Still looking for the "Perfect Ride"

This should keep you occupied regarding campground. Best thing is they are free or just a few bucks. Hope this helps.
