Todays ride included some detours to kill time for Levi stadium to empty out. I finally went down the road advertising Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge along the southern end of San Francisco Bay. The park area with exhibits was closed, but it was still nice to see a lot of birds.

Had a short client meeting in Sacramento today, but had time left over to get a short ride in before heading back up the mountain. Folsom is really a bike-friendly town. I'd heard about the completion of the new, Johnny Cash trail so I decided to check it out. Sacramento County/Folsom has really done a great job with this! It's a beautiful addition to what is already a stellar MUP--the greater American River Bike Trail.

Late October in northern California is proving to be a warm one. Soon the cold, rain, and snow will be upon us; so it's carpe diem while the sun shines. Work can wait. For a few hours, anyway.

Today it was all about putting on miles fighting the North wind on a really heavy bike down in cow and canal country.

Pier 45 with a view of the World Trade Center. Cloudy day.
Notice the helicopter, there were 3 floating in the area. The day after the terrorist attack. RIP to those those cyclists...

Had rain Saturday, but Sunday was perfect cycling weather, not so much for surfing though as the triple crown of surfing kicked off on the North Shore, first leg at Alii Beach in Haleiwa. All quiet as they wait to try another day.
Makes for better riding without all the traffic we get when the meet is "on".

Taken Sunday near Kaposia Landing on the Mississippi River, South Saint Paul, MN.
It was a brilliant, crisp Autumn day; right on the cusp of winter. The trail was all but deserted, and I had plenty of time to compose my photos. Winter is coming, but it's not here yet...

Sunrise Shakedown
Took my newly-completed Raleigh Wyoming touring rig out for its first real ride this morning. I wanted to catch the sunrise down along the river.
It turned out to be a beautiful morning for awhile. Then the clouds rolled in and I put the camera away. But not before I shot this:
