Found a Wheel-Less bike for $10...worth it?

Found a Wheel-Less bike for $10...worth it?
Thought I'd try to turn this into a fixie. Would it be worth $10 plus the cost of wheels/tires? Its missing a brake cable. Would I need a bike stand to work on it?

I guess it depends on how cheaply you can get the wheels and tires. In my neighborhood that"s a $75 bike with wheels and tires.

What's going on w/ that NDS chainstay? Looks...smashed?
RoadWearier I think it is going to depend on your philosophy. I've been making a switch from 'bottom feeder opportunist' to 'strategic higher end buyer' meaning, in order for me to get a new bike, it needs to be sufficiently higher end (except for my beloved Huffys, of course) and something I am looking for. At that end, I don't mind a higher price. Whereas before, I'd be willing to get into just about anything at the right price, and that was how most of my finds were obtained. What also helps make this switch is now how 'needy' all the bikes become, since most bikes on that cheaper end are in some sort of project status, needing something. Also the fact that all the room is gone might also play a part

I wouldn't be tempted by this bike, but if it looks like you could have some fun w/ it, and have a wheelset that could work w/ it, $10 is nothing - cheap thrills.

+1 chainstay looks smashed. Even if it’s in good shape, I’d pass, unless maybe you already have wheels and it really speaks to you. Original wheels were probably 27”, 700c could likely work although different brakes may be needed. Whether you need a stand is really up to you to answer.

On the other hand...
Looking at it a different way, you might be able to salvage ten bucks worth of parts from it for another project bike that comes along: derailleurs, handlebars, seat post, brake calipers, pedals, cranks, etc.

There are so many COMPLETE bikes priced so reasonably right now , I think I would pass. This is a fairly low end machine in rough shape (frame damage?) and no wheels. Donation material for parts at best.

Fork also looks like it has a unique curve to it. Pass unless it has parts you need.
