Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". USE is another suspension seat post , telescopic rather than paralellogram. Elastomer /spring combinations and various combinations of each are offered to adjust for rider weight.

I got a telescopic coil spring one , Airwings, It came on my Bike , A trekking Bike .. weight less of an Issue ..

Cane creeks do offer setback , telescopic ones, generally, do not. plunger works better if it going straight

up and down with out much side /shear/sliding load on the back side too much.

I doubt you'll find many people using a suspension post on a crosser. I've read only good things about the Thudbuster -

https://www.mtbr.com/cat/suspension/s...54_150crx.aspx

www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/.../thudbuster-lt-10308

- but why not ask over in the MTB forum?

(Although - does having a suspension seat post and rigid forks make sense??? It seems the wrong way around to me.)

Not a thudbuster, but I have a Koobi saddle with elastomers on my TriCross.

I have this on my 29er. 1st suspension seat post I ever owned, let alone try. Pretty good if you ask me. And only $25.

It has a preload adjustment on the bottom and a lock out on the side. On a scale from 1-10 (10 being firm), I have it at about 7. I weigh 150 lbs. and feel very little sag. Performs well on and off the road.

And I don't get the 'pogo' effect.

Stevil Kinevil is a proponent of the cross bike + suspension seatpost combo.

Could you link to his reasoning or summarize it?

I thought everyone followed Stevil?

I don't think he's ever given a detailed reasoning except that he likes it. There's a photo of his rig halfway down. I think it's an old RockShox seatpost. He rides a lot of NorCal trails on cross bike.

That's a pity - but thanks!

Thanks for posting this! This may just be the ticket I've been looking for. Suspension when I need it, lockout when I don't. I WAS looking at the Thudbuster ST, but I really like the lockout feature on this post. And at $25.00, you can't go wrong!

I had a Bianchi Volpe once that is marketed as a cross bike. It came with a suspension seatpost. It was a piece of crap. I think you'd be better served with larger volume tires with less pressure.

Telescopic seatpost always end up giving problems. Thudbusters are far more durable. I have one on my cyclocross/go-anywhere bike and am very happy with it. I put in the firmest elastomer and so it only activates when going over serious bumps, otherwise it feels like a rigid post.
