Pad/rotor coverage

I'm curious to get expert opinion on this. Should the rotor on my tektro hydraulic brake cover the pad 100% of the pads or is the 97% that it covers now sufficient. I have had no problems but my friend thinks it need to be covered 100%.

Dude, you asked exactly the same question on the Mechanics subforum, where you'll get better responses.

Not cool to start two threads on the same topic.

Well now you know. You won't be the first noob to forums that has done this, so don't get upset. Otherwise I'd suggest you stick with facebook or twitter or hope for AOL to come back.

Read comments of others with a sugar coating and realize that you are just getting helpful advice to keep the conversations in a pertinent place.

In defense of the OP, the topic was safety related ... sort of. Welcome to Bike Forums, BOTR. I hope you stick around.
