(Tried to find some answers for this, but got nothing. Sorry if it's been asked before.)

With the inevitably ****ty fall and winter coming up, I got curious on how to store my bike through the days, during these wet and cold months.
Never thought about it earlier, but that probably comes down to that I've never had I bike I really cared for.

Is it best to park my bike indoors after my morning/afternoon ride or is it better to leave it outdoors the whole season long? Mainly thinking about rust and whatnot.

I'm no expert, but in general storing indoors > storing outdoors.

Also, it helps to clean/dry it after rides through wet and especially snow.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I don't know, just thought that flinging your bike inside/outside (i.e. hot/really cold and wet) might speed up some rusty business.

Anybody have any feedback on suzue track hubs? I am saving up for dura ace hubs but then I came across a wheel build on instagram using these hubs. I liked the look of them.

they're pretty nice. I have a set of promax but dont use them anymore. i dunno why.

I love mine. The quality is amazing and I'm surprised more people don't use them, although I suppose the aesthetic is too "old school" for a lot of people's bikes.

Quick Q about those crappy $99 Target fixies ; do they use standard cogs ?

I'm heading to the states for a week and a half next month, and rather than shipping my bike both ways I was just going to buy a Target fixie and give it to some kid when I go, and I'm curious if I can bring my gear bag (from the track, all Dura-Ace Track kit) in order to have some better gearing choices

This. Why would you want to soil your DA cogs and chainrings? Also what's stopping your bringing your bike, surely the cost won't exceed buying a pile of Target scrap metal? If that's not a feasible solution, why not rent a bike, though it might be hard to find a fixed gear bike up for rent, unless you're planning on using it on the velodrome in which case a Target "fixie" wouldn't cut it anyway?

You guys are underestimating how much it costs to properly ship a bike to a different country. Not to mention the hassle it can be.

Yes it does. It costs $100 each way to ship a bike by plane ( thanks, Air Canada... ), and renting a bike for a week will easily cost more. I'm not doing this for hardcore training or anything, I just want to be able to ride around town

To ship it perhaps (wouldn't have a clue if I'm honest), but surely not to bring it along, as you'll be traveling yourself.

Whatever the problem, buying a Target "bike", and I use that term in the broadest possible definition of the word, is never the answer.

I asked the question "does it use standard threading, so that I can swap out the gears with ones I have", mostly I just got back snide remarks of why it's a stupid idea altogether.

If you must, just do what you said yourself; buy the damn bike, ride the s*** out of it while on holiday (cross your fingers and hope it'll hold) and dump it on some random kid. Don't bother bringing your DA track kit.
