Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Clothing for Clyde

Anyone had any luck finding clothing for the clydesdales? I'm 6'5", 215# and would love to find jackets, pants and bibs that fit.

I got a pair of https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename= tall polypro tights from Nashbar and was pleasantly surprised. They're long enough, warmer than I thought they'd be and they fit well. Anyone tried Nashbar's https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename= Endurance jacket? It's one of the few I've seen that comes in a tall size.

Any recommendations appreciated. Sorry, having trouble with the "link" function.

Somebody hep me!!

Cheers.

I've found the Performance Bibs to be great. I'm 6'3", 250 lbs. I have a pair of the standard https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=1120 and the elite. I find the standard to fit pretty well in XL. In fact, the legs are almost too long. The Elite fit just a little bit too snug (also in XL).

I've found some of the other "standard" Performance clothing to be good for Clydesdales too. I also like the Canari jerseys, and especially like the Polo jerseys (I can't seem to find these anymore). Both have very generous fit (note, my weight is not in my belly, so I don't need generous in the waist--I have a large chest and broad shoulders).

I'm not trying to push Performance, but I've also had a good experience returning things to them--everything from shoes to jerseys. If something doesn't fit. I put it back in the box and return it for full credit. Unfortunately, my really local, LBSs (those within 10 miles) don't have much of a selection for trying on in store.

Good luck!

Thanks BikingCT! I've only got 3 or 4 jerseys, but I think they're all Canari, and they do fit well, short or long-sleeved. Everyone around here raves about bibs, but I'm a little reluctant to try them, owing to a real aversion to the idea of a constant wedgie.

Cheers.

probikekit.com has a bunch of team jackets on clearance from the 2003 and 2004 seasons, some of the only ones left are XL and XXL sized. There was a very nice Saeco jacket I almost bought but it would only fit a guy of your height.

Have you tried Aerotech Designs. I have a pair of shorts and bibs from them and they have sizes for big guys, IIRC up to 6XL.

No constant wedgie with bibs at all. I absolutely love them. In fact, I just tossed all my old cycling shorts (they were beat up anyway).

Hope you find stuff that fits.
