Best Mountain Biking in North America?

Where (city, state) do we believe the best mountain biking in America exists? Maybe a top three. My preferences include lots of mountainous fire trails and single track. Must have miles and miles of fire trails. Kayaking is a plus. Looking to relocate Thanks.

BC. Easy money. 1000's of miles of single track throughout, some excellent kayaking and rock climbing.

I think the west coast is the best. Northern California and north is great.

Well, I'm sure satisfied with the Shenandoah Valley area. Lots of trails, beautiful, and challenging to boot. You can pick your city, with Salem/Roanoke, centrally located. I live in the Northern area, and I can ride forever, in both Virginia and across the line into West, by golly, Virginia.

I hope that you're joking.

The IMBA report card is based upon advocacy, not the quality of riding.

"People want to know how their locality stacks up against the rest of the world. In a glance, you get a feel for how mountain bike advocacy is progressing in your backyard."

Im in florida, sure no mountains but I was rather supprised how much we have here. Alot of man made stuff that is fun like the T.O.E. (think a bike obstical corse for pro riders with alot of bridges and drop offs ect.

And we have areas where elivation drops alot.

Lots of sand and stuff too if your into that kind of thing.

Thanks for the posts.

What are the thoughts on places in Colorado: Telluride, Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen, Steamboat etc..(as you can see these are just places I have heard people go skiing at-should be good mt biking, right)?

Anyone bike the mountains east of Los Angeles?

If you are independently wealthy: Crested Butte, CO. Otherwise: Durango, Salida, Gunnison, Grand Junction...ummm anyplace with mountains, really.

These are all 'small' towns.

Salida: https://www.csindy.com/csindy/2004-08-05/daytripper.html plus excellent mtbing, and access to all outdoors, not expensive

Durango - college town

Gunnison/Crested Butte https://gunnisoncrestedbutte.com/page.php?pname=areatour
Gunnison is dry and rednecky and more affordable, and CB lush and quaint

I suppose CO is great if you don't really want to get your bike dirty.

Personally, I love to see Co & SW riders at eastern NORBA races whine about the mud, whereas the EC, Can, & NW riders just wipe the stuff off & keep going......

Durango is a pretty cool place, can't really speak for the others. I know they have some pretty good bike shops, but I haven't actually been riding there yet.

Boulder CO is one of my favorite town/cities ever. Great biking, kyaking not sure, tons of climbing, awsome skiing. Boulder and thouse other mountain towns will be more expensive though. Durago is cool.
