2004 Giant TCR Composite O for $2000?
Hi everyone! I need some help and hope I've come to the right place. I am in the market to upgrade my 9 year old steel bike to an all carbon fiber with Dura Ace until I ran into sticker price shock ($5000+).
I've run across the following bike and wanted to know if people thought this was a reasonable "deal" for $2000. It's a 2004 Giant TCR Composite O with all Dura Ace components, Ksyrium 6000 Wheel set, Titanium Egg-Beaters Pedals, Carbon Fiber Easton seat post, Cinelli aluminum handlebars, WTB saddle with titanium rails. Supposedly low miles (I know how this story goes). I think the Dura Ace package is pre-2004 since an upgraded version came out in 2004.
I appreciate any feedback on how good of deal this sounds or what additional questions I should ask about the bike. Thanks!

If it's 9-speed Dura-Ace, this is definitely not a good deal. The frame is old, the parts are nothing special. I would probably pay around a grand for that.
For 2 grand you can get a very, very nice used 1-2 year old carbon rig or an 'entry level' new carbon rig at a bike shop.

Take a look at this Merlin carbon/titanium mix w/ Campy Record/Chorus Carbon on Ebay. (yes, it's mine... shameless I know.)

Agree, you can find a 1-2 year old carbon frame for the same price. A year ago I paid just under $2000 (before tax) for an 07 Giant TCR C1 with 10spd ultegra/dura ace.
