2005 iron horse mkiii comp- Need help!
so here is my new(to me) bike, got it used off craigslist.
$500. i think that was a good deal.
this is my first full suspension. i did some research on the dw-link and its pretty sweet
previous bike was a gt zaskar

i have some questions.
1) is this the same frame as the 2006-2008?
2) i took it for a nice 6 mile loop by my house and it really was awesome, but.... the front Hayes hydraulic hfx-9 disc make a horrible sound every time i lean to the right, causing the slight flex to push the rotor into the brake making a squealing sound. if i tap the lever it goes away for a second, then happens again. is there a fix for this? its really annoying.
3) it weighs 29.9 lbs and completley stock. any recommended upgrades for less then $300 to lighten up the bike?
4) does anybody have this bike? do you love it?

it's got a nice fork! the best upgrade on the used bike would be to change the damper fluid in that fork.

1) No the frame is not the same as the 2006-2008 lineups... check for cracks in the rear triangle as that was one of the improvements
2) Brakes probably need to be centered, loosen the caliper bolts and either do this by eye, or use playing cards wedged between the rotor and the pads while squeezing the brakes to get a decent center point.
3) 29.9 lbs is pretty good for an FS XC/AM bike... you could try to lighten the wheels if you feel they are holding you back.
4) Nope, but I would probably own one if Iron Horse was still in business.
