A nice day to ride but 4 miles out, another flat on the same tire on my primary bike after getting new tube yesterday. My trusty Dahon saved the day again taking me 41 miles out. That gives me a total of 45 miles for today. This is becoming really annoying that I keep getting a flat on the same tire. I told they guys at the LBS that I needed a new tire but they kept insisting there's plenty of miles left on the tire. I know their intention is good to save me money. I am going back to LBS today and I will insist I need a new tire. I think I need another bike though. If they tell me the tire is still good, I'll walk out and go to REI, they are having clearance sale on some '09.

Rode 12 miles today @ 16.9 ave. This is the 5th ride since my gall bladder surgery on July 15. It felt good, but I really wasnt intending to ride that fast. For the record, a year ago I would have ridden this ride at about 19-20 mph ave, so I did take it somewhat easy.

AZ be careful with those stitches. Got mine removed 5 years ago. It took me 4-6 weeks per Doc request before I was active again. They get itchy during the healing period too. A big relief to have the GB removed and we can live without that.

Tuesday 8/04/09... Good ride with my daughter this evening but had to cut it a little short due to the thunder storms moving in. Hope to get in about 40 tomorrow before she has to go back to St Pete.

First ride in almost 2 weeks. I've been kind of out of sorts while getting off the pain patch that I needed for so long. Not fun.
After work today I did a quick 15 mile ride from home. It felt great and I was surprised at how strong I felt. Now I just need to find time to keep riding more often.

I did 38 miles this evening, starting from home, after work. It was another cool afternoon, only reached 98 degrees.

Yes! After not riding for the last two days I got back on and did 31 miles with a 18.2 average. It was just a variation of a regular ride I do after work. I can shorten it or lenghten it depending on how I feel.
It was 91 degrees when I left and I have to say it felt good!!! Weird I know but I needed to ride. I just need to figure out how to keep sweat out of my eyes and on glasses. I have a Halo sweat band and that helps but I still get some.

5 mile commute to work this morning in glorious 63 degree dry, clear, weather @ 4:00 am. Not sure if I'll take the long way home or not at 5:30 this evening. The daughter's coming for a four day visit starting tomorrow so my riding will be very limited. We'll be on the road all day Monday taking her back to school.
Next opportunity for a long ride will be Tuesday, maybe.

I did about 11 miles yesterday riding to the gym and McDonalds and back, to the store and back and down the trail trying out adjustments to my "new" 1968 Peugeo UO8.
Darn, I don't have my exact average speed, but it likely was close to 10 miles per hour!

The dog and trailer and I did a 25 mile loop/People are getting use to us comeing and wave /except for a few crazy fools doing 60mph on those tree shrouded narrow roads with the 7300 I can generally get in the dirt.I shudder thinking of children not paying attention to those fools//I will say there are seldom children near the road./Kenneth

yeah! I rode again today and got 38 miles in, same route as yesterday with a addition in the middle to extend mileage. Avg of 18.3 so I guess I am improving because last three rides were in the 18's. July's avg was 17.4 , wonder if I can make Aug avg in the 18's. Hmmm maybe a goal?
Ken- I saw a lady with a dog in a harness strapped on her front and she had a trailer with her kid in that, I think the kid was asleep. She looked uncomfortable to me to be honest. I would not want a dog strapped to me while riding, I can see the trailer even though I dont think I will ever have one.( I know never say never)

I joined a few friends for a 30 mile road/trail ride to lunch at one of the favorite spots along the Little Miami Scenic Trail - Young's Dairy. They have the best ice cream in the area
Thankfully the 3 hills, 5-8% grades, came before the lunch stop. It was all down-hill on the ride back!

Storms clouds were headed my way when I got home from work today, so I hauled the Roadster the 5 miles to Lynn Creek Marina, and rode the Joe Pool dam road. Riding there, I'm never many miles from my truck if I need to bail due to weather. I rode across the dam and back 3 times for 25 miles at an 18.5 mph average, and got home before the storm hit.

Tonight's ride was under sunny skies and 72 degrees and very low humidity. Not many August days this nice. Did 1:45 as a Z2 recovery ride with 30 minutes of Z3 in the middle of the ride on my 0.86 mile "cemetery crit course". Average for the ride 19.2, which included a 20.5 mph ave for the 30 minute Z3 effort.

Don't mince words
Tuesday evening our son (23) joined our small group ride -- 7 multi-geared road bikes and 1 fixie. He had his messenger bag as well. Until this ride he'd not ridden more than 16 miles in an entire day. He did 35 miles total, quickly learned pacelining, and was in a breakaway of 3 fast rides for a couple miles. I was so proud of him! He had a great time, and learned an important lesson: Wear proper shorts for a ride of this length.
