Quick Paramount question.

They weren't made with regular "cro mo" were they? Someone practically down the street has one for sale, but it's got a "cro mo 4130 double butted" sticker on it.

It could be one of the very lower PDG models...PDG2, PDG3... Are you looking at this beast by chance? If so this is no Paramount. Probably a World Sport or something along those lines. The location of the dt shifters and the chainstay brace is a dead give away. Plus the 4130 chromoly sticker is a give away also.

That's a LeTour, not a Paramount. Sellers can call their bike whatever they want. Caveat emptor.

Actually, not that one, but it has the same sticker! This one is here in Madison and in kinda rough shape, but would have still been cheap for a Paramount. It says Paramount on the DT, but that's about the only thing Paramount about it.

Maybe someone in the area decided to try to make some money on fake Paramounts?

I don't know of any 4130 Paramounts. PDG Series were Tange OS

It sounds like it's a "decal" Paramount. What's the serial number?

I have no idea what the serial number is, nor do I think it's even worth it to go ask the person if I can find the serial number and get back to them. As I said, I think the only thing Paramount about it is the stickers on the DT. I do know the parts group isn't what I'd expect of a Paramount. What looked like 80s Shimano 600 with newer Shimano brakes. If you guys want I can try to check the bike out tomorrow, but I think it would be a waste of time.

I've not seen a Paramount with shifters on top of the down tube. And, is that a kickstand bolt I spy in the second picture?

I believe it is a champagne 1984 Le Tour Luxe. https://bikecatalogs.org/SCHWINN/1984...1984Ltwt09.JPG

On very large Paramounts (over 26-in.) from the 70's, 4130 Chrome-Moly was used for the seattube and downtube. That was straight gauge, and not relevant to the bike the OP is referencing. But thought I'd toss it in FYI.

I was going to say an 84 Voyeuger but I'm not sure...wouldn't a Le Tour have had a half chromed fork?

edit...just looked at the ad. Nevermind. I've got a voyageur frame in that same color and the resemblence is remarkable. Definately no Paramount...
