Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't stay too late into the year, unless you're into tornadoes.

Embrace the long standing local convention.

I like bourbon, but I've been really curious about Japanese whisky, lately. Maybe I'll pick up a bottle at Costco when we stock up on TP and water later today.

Oh boy. Rumor has it that daughter #1 (who is home on spring break) will have "virtual" classes for the rest of the semester because of the coronavirus.

Sigh.

I have had very special Suntory stuff a couple of times in Japan, courtesy of Big Pharma. Very nice. The style is scotch. The distillery we toured today is very small and new, the only independent in Ireland, the only one that uses 100% of its own barley spirit, and makes a great product, even at six years in the barrel.

A punster that I follow on Twitter (Rob Whittle) tweeted the following:

“Ran out of toilet roll, so reduced to wiping my bum with lettuce leaves. I fear that's just the tip of the iceberg...“

And it is official. I don’t agree with this decision as it seems premature and overly cautious. The health dept is not recommending it. But we must abide, of course.

Suntory is quite nice as well. I tried it the first time last week and I decided to add a bottle or two to the stock I have at home.
