I saw it in an overall dumb movie yesterday and got to thinking about it. Like, is there ongoing research on how it supposedly works?
Another question I have is the myth of the brain having a vast store of memories which you generally can't recall, but can be revived if the brain is properly stimulated. Is there anything to that?
Regarding the second question, the memory system for events, facts, names, etc. has a storage and a retrieval component. Retrieval, which involves focused brain work, is a harder task than storage, which happens almost automatically in many cases. As for remembering lost info when "properly stimulated," I suppose the extreme case is things you once saw or heard fleetingly looking familiar when seen again, so I guess it's pretty much true.

That's the frustrating thing - this IS blacktop. But the new surface is 'textured' as if they used a textured roller. Maddening because you see a nice looking repaved road and it rattle the hell out of the bike.

I wouldn't pay for access to anything that has walkers, joggers, or roller bladers on it, even if the surface were like glass and there were no road intersections. I don't want an MUP. I want an SUP. Till then, I'll stick to roads.

My MUP must be the best one out there, because the few walkers I encounter are just not issues.

All the MUPs around here tend to be by the Bay, which is pretty and all, but flat and really boring. Also where people live, so they flock there on foot and make riding faster than a jogging pace problematic. By contrast, the roads here go to nice places, up hills, etc. but obviously, being roads, they have cars.

As I think about it, the idea of a toll MUP with walkers and joggers and skaters reminds me of the Pennsylvania Turnpike - you have to pay to drive on it, but it really sucks. You really don't feel like you're getting your money's worth. Especially since you often end up with 20 miles of single-lane traffic somewhere.

It was a big bolt. He said that he had been feeling some play while riding but every time he would stop there wouldnt be any play in it. Looks like the play lead to the bolt thread stripping off. The threads in the spindle looked okay from what I could see. This is my uneducated guess.

Sirens blew and we all staged by the designated weather shelters, but nobody actually hunkered down that I know of.
Exciting!
I was thinking about MTBing after work but that's a no-go with all of that rain. So maybe I'll take a little damage survey once the winds calm down.

It looks like Milwaukee could get some of that, but to a lesser degree.

We were supposed to take Heidi out to LA this week for college. I had Weds/Thurs/Friday blocked off for vacation so we could all go together. She will now be a college freshman from her bedroom, but I chose to take the days off anyway so maybe I can challenge Bah Humbug for mileage.
However, the forecast says heavy rain expected Weds/Thurs/Friday so I may just catch up on my reading and/or Continuing Medical Education.
Sad!

Agree. There is a MUP that is a mile from my house. I have not gone on it since March and really avoid it unless the weather is rainy. On a typical day, it's full of weaving bicycles along with families walking 4 astride, kids on trikes, walkers, joggers, roller bladers, dog-walkers, etc.

Went grocery shopping. Got to the cashier. Realized that my wallet was still at home, sitting on a bookshelf, drying out from yesterday.

Prolly for the better that you didn't go - you might have been blown too far from home and then been too far away from any place that sells water in that desolate state.
