Picked up this 1995 Trek 930 SHX. At least I think it is an SHX model. The catalog does not show this color scheme for the SHX, but the components match everything it lists for them. The standard 930 didn't have the front suspension. ?? Regardless it should turn out to be a nice ride. Despite some goofball messing up the valve hole on the rear wheel. Apparently they could not find a 26" presta valve and make a nasty hole for a schrader valve. Looks like they used a hammer and chisel to open it up.

A lot of bikes of that style converted to dropbar make fantastic touring bikes. I've converted a number of similar bikes and love as touring bikes. they're fantastic on dirt or gravel roads too.

picked this one up for 20cad rode it all summer after some cleaning . Added bullmoose bars And ran it as a 1x7. Now it’s partially restored and will be built up throughout the winter.

I posted over in the mountain bike threads and found that Titus Titanium was the company logo for a time. Kind of like having a titanium credit card. Yes, great collection of parts that I'll be moving over to a Univega Alpina. Also, for reference, the first two digits of the serial number indicate the year. This is a 2004.

No expert but even if its not Ti it sure looks pretty bad azz from here, I would clean it up too and keep it whole, maybe swap the Uni parts over to it or do a bin build.

I went out of my way to pick this up, The paint is beat up, the original Deore thumbies were replaced by Sunrace. I had been hoping for Deore XT but it was all standard Deore. The good news is it was only $40, except for the shifters it appears all stock and its a Stumpy! Most likely an 87 or 88 based on the rear brake I need to look at the serial #

I dunno about "deal of the day" but I'm happy. I've kept my eye out for a set of front panniers that will, primarily, ride on my Fuji TS III for day trips when I need lunch, a place for more or fewer layers, brownies for friends, etc. BUT, I had no idea if I would like them so was not going to spend a lot of money on stuff that could become just more junk. Found this pair of late '80s Trek panniers on Craigslist. Very dirty and moldy with shot bungee cords but otherwise sound. Paid $10 and started the rehab. The inner plate was held with machine screws so that came out easily and I washed the two bags, Lysol and detergent. I then figured out how to take the bungee cord holders apart and replace the the ancient cords. They fit just fine and are not too big. Ya'll know about "a man's possessions......" They also fit two other bikes (my 87 Voyageur front and my Trek 850 rear rack) so they will be quite versatile. That also snap together so they are easy to carry as one and easy to store.

Now, if I just go on a light tour. At least I'm prepared for spring.

Friday night a 1981 Peugeot PXN10......



This afternoon this mid-70's "Cherry" built by Nissan Cycle. $45 and it has 2 brand new Kenda K35 gumwalls on it. Not to mention that awesome.. ... saddle.

Loaded the camel-trek for a recycle run. Wife insisted on coming so modified route to slightly less difficult. As we cross a neighborhood near ours she calls me back to view about 10 wheels beside a trash pile. Told her we would come back if still there. They were, an hour or two later when we rode by, so continued home. She had a hunch and insisted I take car immediately.

As I drove up and parked, a man pulled up behind me and asked about the trash. Firmly told him I was there for the wheels and proceeded. Took what looked worthwhile (4 complete wheels with tires and an extra tire) and left him the rest.

When I got home, and started cleaning the basic Giant front wheel was wrong size and very untrued. Set it beside compactor and was gone quickly. Now it gets good!

Got a ZAC19 with Shimano "parallax". 36 count with heavy spokes and clean before inspection. Not a super find, but good backup to either of our bikes. The other two wheels cleaned up to be a near pristine set of Matrix 32 rims with Deore DX hubs! They spin true No rust, even....

I'm not switching out my Sun Rhynos, but my wife just got an awesome upgrade to her Trek Navigator 50, and its no-name hubs!

Thanks. I've had some pretty good luck with rehabilitating grungy old stuff. These had "good bones" though so I was lucky.

Made for Trek. It seems that logo was used late 80's to early 90's. So good nuff for C&V.

So, I went out this afternoon to look at a Raleigh road bike, when I got there I found a 1974 Raleigh Professional in the middle of a failed fixie conversion missing the original wheels and the campagnolo rear derailleur and shifters, all the other campagnolo components seem to be there, as is the cinelli stem and bars, so I brought it home, sorry no pictures yet.- Gerry

Based on the lack of wear (no abrasions, zippers all work fine, no frayed fabric) I'd guess, yes, low mileage. Just dirty,moldy and stretched bungee cords. The PO didn't say much and I didn't ask. He also has a pair of rear panniers but I already have a set of the classic C'dale rears so I resisted temptation.

Just picked up a Raleigh Twenty folder for free!

Came up on my OfferUp alert for bikes, and turned out to be a couple blocks away from my friends house, so he walked over and grabbed it for me! No photos yet, as I haven't actually seen it in person, and I'm still a wee baby member that can't post photos anyway. Never had any desire to own a folding bike, but I just couldn't pass up an opportunity like that. Sounds like it's got a good helping of filth and rust on it, and some minor damage to the chainguard, but I'm pumped! From the (non-drive side) photo my friend sent, it looks to be all original aside from the saddle. Never thought I'd get one of these crazy free bike finds.

So why would you buy a fairly common 1977 Schwinn Le Tour II for $25? Just for the saddle would be my answer. A fairly nice (not perfect B72) that cleaned up pretty nice with the first coat of Proofide.

Another Peugeot this one looks to have all the original parts. The quick releases are frozen, the nds cup was undone, the plastics on the brake leavers are not broken, yet, and the Ideal seat clamp has lost most it's chrome, and the saddle had a tint of alge, the derailleurs appear to be intact, sew up tires on Mavic rims with Normandy hubs.

Good score on the saddle. I know there's not much to recommend these models, but I've had my eye on cheap Le Tour III's because I like the Pearl Orange color so much (the Pearl Blue isn't bad either). All the more reason to look for a Pearl Orange Volare I guess!

Picked up this ol' Lotus road bike for $50 before the Patriots game @ 4:30 couple Sundays ago. Seller told me it was sitting in his garage since 1979, and it appears true!
Oh my gosh! I asked him if others had inquired of posting; he said they call but never show to view it.
Just moisture and humidity rust on chromed surfaces and no signs of rain or snow exposure from outdoors storage. Hopefully will clean up nicely.
