Missed the break, more frustration than suffering as a pack of 85 guys included only 4 that wanted to work.

We must be twins. I had that very same experience last Sunday (but only 50 guys, not 85).

From this past summer during a Masters 35+ 1,2,3,4 event, I'm a 4. Temps had to be in the low 50s or high 40s, we got drenched a the start.

This was the climb back to start finish; too much gap saw me dropped as the service car went by. I completed the lap but then dropped out because I felt myself going hypothermic. I had to keep pushing hard just to stay warm, got scary there for a while. I think I sat in the car with the heat on full for 30min...I couldn't stop shivering.

This one was from my first Cross Race with me stalking the two in front. I started about 103rd on the line and finished 39th nipping the guy in the middle on the line. This was the final lap so I was running on fumes and excitement.

Fiesta Island Time Trial. Fog and cool. Road was only clean on 1/2 which made passing lanes pretty tight.

Off the back, M35+ Red Trolley. Made it to about 4 to go before getting popped. I was totally outclassed when the field collectively drilled it at 6 to go.

The photog (former leadout man, long time friend, etc) was astounded that even with my steep seat tube angle I still slide forward on the saddle. I was over the peak here, the ticking would explode in a few hundred meters.

Nice meeting you today bro...that was a rough one huh? i popped also with about 4 to go also with a cramp..fitness was there, just couldn't pedal, turns out you need to be able to do that to race.

It got fast when the lap cards came out, like someone turned on a switch. I wish I'd been riding a bit better recently. I only raced once so no cramps, and for most of the race felt like I was working but within some relatively sane level (I was also sitting in the whole time). Pics are straight out of his camera, not uploaded.

Wattage was low, in the under 180w, but spiking to 650-900 every lap on the hill. An odd 1000+ one lap, but I think that's when someone slammed their brakes on at the last turn. I got out of the saddle like 4 times for that hill so I wasn't 100% since I'd normally stand a bit more.

At least I didn't get shelled in 5 laps; since that was my expectation, it was good to make it as far as I did.

Dude, I've stayed out of it when people have picked on you, but when you're not racing, don't poke fun at the people who are.

No one should be embarrassed about crashing, it happens, it's part of the sport. Now if you go ahead and do something stupid then crash, well maybe you should be embarrassed then.

Off the front in the Alsatian crit on Saturday. I managed to be the only 3 in the winning break. Suffering was high.

Here I am taking my turn at the front. We gained a minute on the field very rapidly. That's College back there in the MJ kit. He won. I just couldn't cover him and the red/white Bike Barn guy (Wally) when they started duking it out.

Holy smokes! CDR I wish I had the chance to meet you yesterday. That master's race looked absolutely brutal. I did get to meet Crasha nd Efficiency yesterday. Always good to put faces to names.

I wanted to check out your bike actually, and compare notes. Not sure if the trip is on the books for next year but if it is I'll try and remember to reach out.
