Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you use to measure HRV? I've been considering getting on the WHOOP bandwagon, again not so much to optimize my efforts as to make sure I get enough recovery. I can of course feel my pulse and tell roughly where I'm at, problem is I don't know how reliable that is.
To give you some context, I am 63 and weak and probably don’t have a hell of a lot of progress to make.

I use an electrical ECG strap and Elite HRV, a free app. I looked at WHOOP, but the recurring costs weren’t worth it and I’m still not sure an optical system can give you accurate timing even with “genius” processing and hours of data. I don’t think they’ve published anything peer reviewed on it.

Simple. simply buy as many pedal power meters as you have bikes. you can thank me later.

Should I put them on top of my other power meters? I am guessing yes, just want to make sure.

Crank, pedal, and hub based power. Triple redundancy.

On particularly horrible days, when I'm certain my power meter is broken, I put my Powertap wheel on, and compare.... Alas.....

I’m not strong on stats, but can there be a mode with two observations?

We did a 700 mi. ocean race celestial a few years ago and just hacked all our crummy quartz watches to GPS time before the start. We were only five nautical miles off our fix when we turned on the GPS.

That's a good point. I'm not that great at "maths" in general...but I believe the prerequisite is just that the mode is whatever number is repeated the most. So if you had 22 and 22...then both would be the mode (22). I definitely could be wrong though.

Apologies for the topic deviation, but where would one be able to purchase a velomobile? Or at least I think that's what we call them? One of those fully faired bicycles.

You mean there is no velomobilesdirect.com?!? I remember looking into these awhile ago but got scared away by the high cost.

There won't be a ton, but but hopefully enough to make it worthwhile to train for them.

Speaking of, valygrl went from crit state champ, to stopping mass start, due to concussions. It took a couple, but she is now a TT state champ.
