Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

LeMond had talent and a good team when he raced. He could have done much better if he had trained during the winter as many riders do now. Taking a break and going hunting also cost him when he was shot and so lost a couple years while at his peak. LeMond quit because he no longer could compete at the highest level which happens as athletes age with rare exceptions.

I think if not for the shooting, he would have likely won the '87 and '88 Tours and if not for doping, he would likely have won in '91 and maybe even beyond.
I attribute this to his character and genetically high VO2 Max.

What do you think?
I think he doped, just like the rest of them.

The Cycling Highlights channel specializes in cycling doping exposé videos - scathingly nasty for dopers who have been caught or (rarely) confessed, insinuatingly nasty for dopers who go on denying having doped.

The channel finally got around to doing a video on LeMond. Enjoy.
