9/10 - 36.44 miles with Hoffman Park group. 17.5 mph on a windy, cool, hilly ride. I have not been on a group ride in about 2 months!

I get my Garmin back tomorrow!

My ride was stolen today, so I got exactly 0 miles riding in today.
If I find the guy who stole my bike.... he won't be able to ride ever again after I'm done with him.

I rode 40 miles of singletrack today at Vultures Knob. The first lap was quick, the second was long and painful, the third was insanely fast, and the fourth was moderately quick.

On the second lap, there was a 5 ft long black snake sitting on top of one of the log rolls that you have to ride over. I panicked and stopped for a minute and decided to run AROUND the trail through the woods, moving cautiously because I was afraid of another huge snake slithering around.
I'm scared ****less of reptiles.

Yeah, locked up like any other day. Around a sign post with the lock around front/rear wheel. It was still there when I came back from lunch and at 4pm it was gone

I'm not allowed to take my bike inside the office, so I have no choice.

I am so afraid to turn my back on my bike anywhere but in my office. Hope you can replace it with an even better bike. Good time to upgrade. Lemons to lemonade or something like that.

Yeah, it was my commuter. Still hurts tho. That bike has been with me in France and Spain. It was my road bike for the last 15 years before I bought the Madone. The Madone I would never commute over those rough roads I'm taking.

I still regret having my old Raleigh "English racer" bike stolen when I was 15 years old (about 47 years ago!). It had been my "freedom machine" for many years.

So how'd they get it? Cut the cable or chain, or some other trick?

The must have cut the cable or drilled the lock. No other way around it. It was a secure sign post. I wrapped the cable around the front and rear tire and through the frame. It's a lock with a key lock, no numbers.

The thing that baffles me is, no one saw anything? It's right next to a smokers zone outside the building and it was in broad daylight between noon and 4pm. ****!

Sorry to hear about your bike Scummer, that sucks big time no doubt. As far as nobody seeing anything. Most people are oblivious to things unless it directly effects them. Sorry again about the bike, hope it turns up in good shape for you.

Looks like psimet's commute to work by bike is off for at least a few days after flooding closes part of the Fox River Trail. This rain has killed off the weekend for all of Chicago area.

More than 6" of rain here, during the last 24 hours. And it's still coming down!

However, the weather prognosticators are promising more of the same for tomorrow, and maybe Monday...

It sucks.

I did get to ride yesterday!

I only got in maybe 10 miles today on the track bike. Riding hard on Thursday at the Knob and then taking a day off was not ideal for my muscles.
