I hate Chicago weather
Got out yesterday for a very quick 20 miler... had a ton of stuff to do and had to get back to attend my Park Tool Bike Maintenance class It was fun. He intentionally broke both derailleurs (gasp)... and I had to tune them back up Gawd... it was scary, but not sure if I would mess with it on my own without supervision... that was the intention of the class... to learn without supervision... oh well... I learned lots of things and know what limit screws are and what they do
It was fun... I changed my back tire, adjusted the breaks, adjusted the derailleurs, cleaned and lubed the chain, learned about pinch flats and how to properly insert your tube (to avoid that)...., learned a little about hubs (that was a bit overwhelming kind of), and some other cool things.
Oh back to riding... oops... nothing today... hanging out and listening to the rain

I had to take Friday and Saturday off because I had back-to-back jobs, so I didn't feel great today which is alwas weird because when I feel crappy I'm pretty strong.
I only rode 20.2 miles, basically out to Columbia, then back to Bassett Rd and did 4 laps of the Westlake Ind. Park before heading back.
I don't know which "big tailwind" Gary is talking about but it wasn't so huge when I was out, but it was enough so that I could hold 35 mph in some areas and make drivers turn their heads.

4/5--28 miles.
Let's see. Went out with temps in the high 30's and overcast. After an hour or so, rain, then sleet, then BIG snowflakes, then rain and then back to overcast. All with 20+ mph winds with max gusts at 37.
Why am I happy? I got a P.I. Barrier jacket a few hours before the ride.

Rode to Lockport area.
As of tonight...it's fricken snowing out here in SW Chicagoland and it's covering the pavement...WTF? Maybe by June, hell will have finally frozen over.

Sunday's ride was 50 degrees, little to no wind, 29 miles and Bellus Rd Hill in Hinckley x 4. The flags were hanging against the poles yet it still felt like the wind was helping on the hills. Maybe just wishful thinking?

Todays weather sucks but, I refuse to ride indoors anymore this year, therefore 36 miles in snow squalls of various intensities, very wet, with a northwest wind at around 20 gusting hi 20's. Had to post this for the N.E. Ohio boys who know what todays weather was like! So anybody else get out there and ride??

I need to post more in this thread...so I'll try.
21.25 on the old Raleigh tonight. God-awful wind though. Sad when 42/28 is just barely enough to go down some hills into that wind. Still a good ride; well, once I turned with the wind. Made all that struggle worth it

Did the commute thing today. Wind blew me into work at a ridiculous pace, but took it all away on the way home. Not bad otherwise and the legs are getting stronger every day

30 minute warm up, then 50 minutes of circuits around the cemetery with a buddy practicing riding fast and close through turns, followed by a 25 minute cool down for a total of 35 miles. I hated doing the roller sessions over the past winter but now I understand their value. I am now able to pedal into, through and out of turns without letting up on the throttle.
