Chicago -- Highway construction

Ok, you Chicago guys . . . help me out here. I gotta go down to the LaGrange/Brookfield Friday morning for a funeral. Any road construction on 94-294 that I gotta be aware of?

Hmm.. Both 294 and 94 are under construction when you come from WI to Brookfield. Pick your poison, heh.

Was close to Kenosha on Sunday for a race and used 294/94 to get there and back. Yep construction. They still have three lanes open but one may be an express lane i.e it's separate from the other two.

There is always construction on those roads. It is Chicago after all.

I can't remember a time when there wasn't construction on those roads, or I80, or I88, or I90.

Wellllll, maybe back in the 60's......

I think there was constuction much of the time, even then.

Traffic is split in some places, i'd stay out of the "express lane" since its only a single lane. Take 294, it wasn't bad at all (late last sat. afternoon) when i was returning from gurnee down to 290.

Not as bad as it was last spring though? ... I hope.

I mean, in spring it took me three hours to get to downtown , but by fall I was jamming all the way to the south side without too much difficulty.

Never ending rush hours + harsh freeze/thaw cycles = Roads that never stay repaired.

Defend yourself. Drive aggressive, Sage. And get a set of rugged tires and shocks.

Thanks guys. I pretty much always expect construction in Chicago -- just too many miles of Highways to not be. The construction on 294 wasn't too bad. On the way north this morning I jumped in the first express lane and regretted it . . . right up to a fairly fierce backup when the two other lanes went down to one.

Always love getting down to Chicago -- although it had been a while since I had been in the Oak Brook area -- lots of even more new development since I was last there!
