Bike Shop NYC
Which is the best bike shop in NYC for purchasing a road bike. Some place where the employees know about bikes, being I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to them

Are you aware there's very limited availability and you might not find the bike you want at any store.
If you're willing to take the LIRR for a ride Brands in Wantagh is a block from the station and sell most major brands. Everything from kiddie bikes to pro level race bikes. I've dealt with the staff for many years and most know their product lines. Also no attitude I was treated the same buying my wife a $600 as I did for my expensive bike.

I was looking at spending around $4500. I was checking out the Canyon Aeroad CF SL Disc 8.0 Di2 which you can buy online through them

Ok.. but then you'd be looking for a bike shop that could help with maintenance. For purchase, at that price level.. my fwiw recommendations are in no particular order, but for brand variety are NYC Velo (downtown location) or StrictlyBicycles.. trip over the GWB to Ft Lee required. If you want a Trek, the the company store on W. 96th is pretty good.

I've enjoyed the customer service at Echelon Cycles in West Village the past few months. They've taken great care of me, give them a try.

When i was shopping for my Emonda SLR I stopped at Strictly and was ignored. At R&A I stopped in to look around and no one offered to help. When I asked a question, they answered and walked away.

That's really unfortunate. R&A has a service called R&A black at a totally different location than their regular store where it's one-on-one appointments. They will set you up with what you are looking for.

fwiw, you want to avoid going (to any bike shop) during rush hour (aka the weekends) these days if you want more personal attention.

R&A and Strictly deal with a certain kind of customer. Which is to say someone who knows what they want and mostly knows about bicycles. I do fine there, but I wouldn't send a newbie.
NYC Velo is approachable. Mineola is also, as is Brand. But with all of them it depends A LOT on how busy they are.
Here's the rub, and there's really no way around it... for your first real road bike, you really do need shop with a halfway decent fitter who can help you get a reasonable initial setup with frame size, bars, seat adjustment (3 variables) and STEM. If you haven't done your first iteration with a shop or a very knowlegable friend to help you, buying online is likely to end up being a big mistake.

I knew exactly what I wanted. Maybe the problem at Strictly was I pulled up in a beat up 2001 Civic that was worth maybe $1000 and they didn't expect me to be dropping 5 figures on a bicycle.

stole your bike
They're great. They also have an eBay side business so if you have bike gear you want to get rid of and can't be bothered to do it yourself, they will sell your stuff and apply it to the purchase of your new bike. I haven't been there in a while, but they have a good selection of Cannondale, Scott, and BMC. I'd call first to get a sense of what they have on hand since some shops I know have been running light on the inventory.
