Cyclists wearing dark, muted colors riding through dark, foggy roads. I guess it's more important to look cool and get hit by a car than to wear bright colors and be visible?

Last time I pointed this out I lost a couple of long time cycling friends. They just happened to work at Rapha too....

Except the lads from Yorkshire: https://fatladattheback.com/
Maybe Fat Lad at the Back could do the parody add. I have been meaning to buy something from them, but have never gotten around to it. Maybe if we can tour Scotland next spring I will pick up a jersey for myself and my stoker.

Tracksmith has been doing the same type of thing for running, and I love it. They've eschewed the flashy neon super tech for a more subtle old school New England college/prep school flair. They don't have the kind of money to compete with the likes of Nike to attract the kind of top level talent, so instead they've cultivated a following by focusing on high level amateur runners. In a stroke of marketing genius they offered a "sponsorship" for the US Olympic Trials to any runner who ran an Olympic Qualifying time. The majority of those runners are full time employed at something other than running. So for the non pro's got some really nice kit for the Trials plus a $500 gift card to spend on Tracksmith gear throughout the year. I'm not exaggerating when I say that 75% of the woman's field and 30% of the men's field in Atlanta was wearing Tracksmith.

We bought a black Camry in 2010, and wash it on even number years. This is not an intelligent color for people who don't like to wash their cars. It looks especially fetching now with all the ash.

My comment wasn't related to safety, but a quick search finds this:
"In 2007, the Monash University Accident Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia released a report on car accident rates by car color. The report claimed that white is the safest color for a vehicle and black the most dangerous."
I have a large white van, & haven't ever thought of white vehicles as hard to see...
