I think the inverted drop bar is popular with DUI/ Bum riders. None of those on BF, of course.

So I guess I'm the only one. I just flipped mine from drops to risers and changed my stem yet again. I've finally got my reach and height right. The only thing I don't quite like is the angle of my hands when they're all the way forward. It's more natural to have the hands slope down as they go out. But with the brake levers there, I can rest the sides of my hands against them, so as not to have too much sheer force on my palms. I definitely like how the outside grips feel.
Might try the Nitto RM-017 eventually as it has less drop, and I might be able to get it where I like it in drop orientation. But that doesn't seem to be possible for me with the RM-016 without using a very weird stem, or some kind of steer extender.

Sounds as if you are trying to make do with an incorrect size bike. Sometimes it's not worth the effort.

I've inverted the bars on one of my current bikes a while back. It looked cool, but my body never meshed with it.

I have butterfly handlebars on my bike, and they have a little bit of ride. However, I have them inverted so they have a downward swoop. Your poll didn't include those bars, of course, but I'm used to being left out of the group.

While the hand positions are definitely a plus, it' s all about the aero on the wind blown Atlantic Coast!

Coincidentally, I also live on the Atlantic coast, though about 2300 km south of you. I take it that you don't miss the drops, even into a headwind. My gf seems to have a definite advantage on the upwind legs, as she uses her drops and gradually pulls away from me. But I'm not going back.

I've flopped my Nitto albatross bars a couple of years ago, sorta path racer style. More sweep than mustache bars, but pretty close. I didn't keep 'em that way for long because I was still recovering from a shoulder injury. I might try it again. But I'm pretty satisfied with the albatross bar in conventional upright position. I'm using an old road bike 120mm stem, set right about saddle height, so it's a good compromise between a comfortable upright ride and a little more aero when I lean into the forward arced part of the bar.

I made an old 3-speed Schwinn Racer into something of a "rat rod" some years back. It got the inverted bar treatment, looked pretty cool and was comfortable enough.
