1980 Mondia Super 57cm ctc - Original

For sale MONDIA – Super - $850
“Mondia was perhaps the most successful Swiss maker in competition and commercially. Mondia bicycles began production in 1933 by Jeker-Häfeli & Cie, As early as 1936, there was a winning rider on a Mondia racing team in the Tour of Switzerland.” See ClassicRendezvous for a complete history. Mondia serial number chart
According to the Mondia registry, this bike serial number 300347 is a 1980. This bike was purchased from the second owner who worked at the Freewheeling bike shop here in Austin where the bike was built and originally sold. He explained that he thought the bike is now as it was as originally built up in 1980. It has the original paint and decals. Those that are familiar with the Mondia brand are aware of their unique paint schemes. This bike is a beautiful, dusted rose color and has the black outlines around the lugs and detailed black & white pinstriping on the top and down tubes. The bike comes with the original tubular wheels (new tires) and a set of clinchers for everyday use and convenience. It’s a perfect bike for Eroica rides.

Frame – Super; Top tube, 57cm (CTC) Seat tube, 57cm (CTC) Reynolds 531 tubing, rear spacing 130mm OLD
Groupset – Campagnolo Nuovo Record; brake levers, front/rear derailleurs, shifters, 170mm 52/42 crank, and bottom bracket
Freewheel – Suntour; 13/15/17/20/23/26 6 speed
Wheels - Mavic GP 4 dark anodized built onto Campy Record hubs (36 spokes)
Cockpit – Cinelli 100mm stem, Campy headset, Cinelli Champione del Mondo 40cm handlebars, Campy seat post, and original Brooks saddle
It’s really nice original and uncommon bicycle. I was hoping that someone from BF who would appreciate this bike would but it.

This bike is sweet. It will make someone happy. Are the brakes short or standard reach?

I believe they are standard reach. Modern brake pads for a ride event but original pads are included.

I have one of these from the early seventies and they are very comfy bikes ,and , will accommodate wider tires than most frames. Mine came with 27" wheels and I put 1 1/4" tires that measure 1 3/8" when inflated. They are close but clear the frame . I have to deflate the rear tire to get the wheel off.
